WINCC Competition fundraiser

The coffee industry is supported by an incredibly diverse group of individuals in every aspect of the chain of seed to cup, but often we only see a fraction of the community represented on a national level. Visibility is key to promoting a inclusive, supportive and ever growing community of coffee professionals. WINCC provides the tools and resources needed to give marginalized coffee professionals the visibility to succeeded.

WINCC is a resource built to help baristas, brewers, cafe owners,  and those who lack the same opportunities to compete and do well in competitions.  We have a physical library of wares available to individuals to borrow from loaded with a wide array of coffee tools. We foster ideas of community above competition and put the focus on building our coffee community as a whole, using diversity and inclusivity as our driving force.  For more information about WINCC and our impact, check out this Write up in Barista magazine about WINCC .

WINCC has already begun making waves as a resource. With dozens of donations of wares and funds we’ve been able to fund competitors registration and provide wares in a sustainable and community driven way. We've also made strides with our event planning, hosting events like Yoga in the Roastery, multiple throwdowns and partnering with barista resources like Barista Hustle to expand our reach.

Real quick, let’s give a completely transparent breakdown of the costs it takes to compete at the National level:

Registration Fee - (If you are a BGA member the registration fee is much cheaper, so this is reflective of having a membership and the cheapest price)
- $500

Wares for competition (Barista and Brewers cup)
-$1,000 - 2,000

Flights to competition destination
-$200 - 600

Hotels / Airbnb
-$300 -500

Lost Wages for time off work
-$300 - 400

Keeping competitors fed
-$200

All together we are looking (roughly) at a grand total of over 3,000 dollars for a single competitor to compete one time.

WINCC and the folks invovled are hoping to create a community where the talent in the coffee industry is equally represented in competitions, regardless of money, popularity, race, or gender. We believe every single person has the right to succeed, and represent themselves at the highest level.

With the money we raise - we can promote a more diverse and inclusive coffee community.  We hope to empower new competitors who never thought they had the opportunity to do so, and stand behind the people that truely make our community as strong as it is.
