For Vu Phong Lam

Donation protected

As you all may or may not know, Vu has been suffering from terminal cancer.
Within the last couple of weeks, Vu’s illness progressed rapidly and in the past couple of days, the illness has left Vu with only the strength to sign the most basic sign language to express his feelings/emotions. With all of what strength he had left, he constantly signed ‘I Love You’ to us all. In the days that Vu was able to express more, he was able to tell the family of his wishes. And after deep discussions and thoughts, and witnessing Vu’s deteriorating strength, Vu’s family made the toughest decision to fulfill his wishes. The family altogether has decided to stop all treatments. In this time, we will be continuing to help manage Vu’s pain and comfort as best as possible.

Vu is a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, friend and more. Although he was deaf, he truly listened to us all with his big heart and gave the best hugs with his wide open arms. He’s truly touched the many lives of his family, friends, colleagues and anyone he’s met. Vu is/will be truly missed. We will always remember his goofiness, his love for photography (especially selfies), adventure and his absolute love for his family&friends. His family will be missing their beloved Santa every Christmas.

Vuey, we love and miss you forever. Thank you for fighting. Thank you for teaching us the universal language of Love. And thank you for bringing joy to so many of our lives.

We would like to thank Vu’s friends whom have reached out to visit Vu and appreciate the respect for the familys’ privacy in this moment.  Vu’s sister, Ali and brother, Van have been working hard to arrange for Vu’s comfort and care so that we can accommodate to more visitors when possible.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to help with Vu’s funeral service.

Vu and Vu’s family have always appreciated the deaf/HoH community and schools that Vu attended where he’s made lifelong friends and memories. A portion of the proceeds will be donated in Vu’s name to his former schools, Kendall Elementary and Model Secondary School for The Deaf (MSSD)

We thank you all for your support, we are truly grateful for the love that you have all shown for Vu.

“Smile often. Love always.”
- Vu Phong Lam

*While Vu’s sister, Ali and brother, Van are working hard to make arrangements in the care for Vu, this campaign has been organized by Vu’s nieces in conjunction to help Ali, Van and Vu’s parents. The donations will be collected and given directly to Ali, whom is Vu’s power of attorney.
