Vestment Fund for Priests

Donation protected

UPDATE: I am working on the first commission for "Father K,"  and he approved the design mockup and silk fabrics for the chasuble part of the low-Mass set plus Cope and Humeral Veil.  Please click the updates link for pictures and details (located above the image.)  I will increase the goal as each project is completed to raise funds for the next.

About the Ongoing Project

I would like to see altar-worthy vestments given to priests and soon-to-be-ordained seminarians at no cost to them.  Vestments for the King of Kings at the Altar should be made with materials that are no less precious than those used to make royal coronation robes.

This would mean using the finest silk fabrics, silk velvets, and semi-precious stones.  Metal embroidery threads would have actual gold content to create raised goldwork embroidery appliques by hand as was done throughout the centuries.

Unfortunately, traditional vestment materials today are often the same materials used to make children's costumes sold in the local big box store.I am inspired by the medieval practices that endeavored to craft the externals of liturgy, so that they carried the senses upward toward Heaven.  Sacrifices made by priests, sacristans, benefactors, embroiderers, vestment makers, cathedral builders, stained glass makers, and many others contributed to this noble effort.
By crowdfunding this initiative, many can make modest contributions toward restoring a sense of the sacred.

As funds become available, I will purchase silk fabrics, gold threads, semi-precious stones, and other materials required to make Low Mass and High Mass Vestment sets.  I will offer the vestment materials at cost and collect a modest living wage (per Rerum Novarum) for the raised goldwork embroidery -- all embroidered by hand.

It is my hope that the full cost of the vestment sets will be paid for by many small donations and given to priests and seminarians.

Along the way, I will post progress pictures and comments from grateful priests and seminarians.

Thank you for supporting our priests!
