Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit VEToga Inc., a veteran run non-profit organization whose mission is to provide yoga, meditation, and healing arts to active duty, veterans, their families and communities.
As many of my friends and family know, I am Captain Tina Braddock, an Active Duty Emergency Trauma Nurse in the US Army for over 7 years. While deployed to Afghanistan and Kuwait in 2017-2018, I greatly deepened my meditation and yoga practice during my time overseas. My daily motto became to “Find Peace in the Middle East.” Every day was a struggle so my goal was to just get through one day at a time, and some days one minute at a time. Upon returning home, I tried to continue my practice but could see how if I didn’t utilize yoga or meditate every damn day it was easy to become a victim to many of the unfortunate PTSD side effects. Being a trauma nurse, I recognized this dark hole I was falling into and have since seeked many resources but realized there is not enough out there for our troops. This fall I will officially be a veteran and needless to say I have trepidation’s. Once they take that military ID card away those few resources for mental health become slim to none.
As of 2010, 22 veterans a DAY commit suicide . This does not include active duty military. The numbers are MUCH higher today. It is proven yoga and meditation can have a direct impact on the reduction of post-traumatic stress in veterans, as well as generally increase overall mental well-being. I KNOW it works!
