Underdog Comedy Tour

Hello friends,

First of all, thank you. Thank you for clicking on this link, and more than that, thank you for supporting your friends. Now, as you may or may not have heard, Clare Belford, Brett McCrindle and myself, Simon Gorsak, are embarking on a tour this September! We're very excited and altogether terrified at the fun and mischief that we're all about to have. We're leaving Edmonton on August 30th, and we'll be headed to Winnipeg, Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Fredericton, Halifax, Cape Breton, Charlottetown, then we head back and hit a few of those same stops on our way home. We'll be safely depositing Clare in her new home of Toronto on the way back. While it's sad to see her leave our city permanently, we know that this tour will be an amazing and productive send-off.

Every week, the three of us take pride and pleasure in hosting our respective weekly shows. Clare insists that The Underdog Comedy show is the best show in town, while I remain emphatic that her Empress Comedy Night is second to none. Brett could not be reached for comment, but his whereabouts are thought to be in outer space somewhere, pondering more important cosmic queries. Our time and involvement in Edmonton comedy means more to us than I can say in just this letter. The support we receive, week in, week out, has resulted in such a beautiful community of artists and fans, all feeding their love of comedy into this whirling ball of fun we like to call The Edmonton Comedy Scene. While this work is rewarding and exciting to do here at home, it is still in our nature to be selfish glory hogs.  With that, we feel that in sharing our work across the country, we can not only help to raise the profile of the great things going on in this city, but add to them by making connections with talented performers elsewhere.
And so, The Underdog Comedy Tour.

After lengthy discussions on the subject, we were still unsure as to whether we should ask for more from a community that has already given us so much. Together, we reached the conclusion that it would be paying a disservice to the people who want to help us to not give them an opportunity to support us in our quest to take our scene on the road. Moreover, and to be frank, tour is expensive as hell and we need all the help we can get. The funds raised here, and at 'pass-the-hat' nights of our two shows will be spent on food, fuel, ferries, toll bridges, troll bridges, and possibly a hostel for whenever we don't have a couch to surf (which will be almost never, thanks to the AMAZING Canadian comics we have helping us). Now, if you're interested in donating, but don't have a credit card (I can relate) there are a couple of options. First, come to The Underdog on a Thursday, or The Empress on a Sunday! We'll be there! Alternatively, you could drop us an online money transfer at [email redacted]!

I want to thank you again for taking the time to read this letter, also, for supporting us thus far. There's no way we could do what we're doing without your help, and we will never stop trying to deserve all of the love that you show us.

Thanks again,
Simon, Brett and Clare
