Reparations Fund USS Pueblo

Former Prisoners of War need some help!
The USS Pueblo was attacked and captured by North Korean forces in International waters on January 23, 1968. In the attack one man was killed with another dozen severely wounded. The 82 survivors were imprisoned, brutally beaten for phony confessions and starved for 11 months. The North Korean treatment of our crew was as bad as you can imagine. In late October 1968 Time magazine published a North Korean propaganda photo which showed men in the photo displaying a certain finger sign. The cut line read: “Last week Pyongyang’s flacks tried again - and lost to the
U. S. Navy” Time Magazine Oct 18, 1968.  The Koreans let loose with what we call HELL WEEK where they came very close to killing several men. To this day, the crew suffers the effects of the malnutrition and those constant beatings.

With North Korea back on the "State Sponsors of Terrorism list", there is a chance for reparations. That would bring help with the continuing health and psychological struggles of the crew and their families from that continuing  ordeal.

Receiving a winning judgment against North Korea is a long way from being realized.  We have spent many years before being able to attempt it. Attorneys representing our case are doing it on a contingency basis. But there is a need for a fund to cover expenses involved in preparing the personal legal documents for our crew and families. Depositions will need to be taken. Travel expenses to the DC Court will be high for those who will need to testify.  We can use all the help we can get. For 49 years we have prayed for this chance for the United States to finally get this bit of retribution.

Ours is the second case to be taken against the North Korean Kim regime by members of our Pueblo crew. The first win in 2007 was made by three crewmembers plus Rose Bucher, Captain Bucher's widow. They were finally awarded damages in 2016.
