Help Give Back to Veterans

$25,030 of $28,000 goal

Hi there! My name is Tyler and I am a 7-year-old kidpreneur and co-creator of Give Back to Veterans. My dad, uncle, grandfather and lots of people I know are veterans. I wanted to do something nice for as many veterans in need as I could because they deserve it!

Doing something special for veterans began after I started asking my mom why some veterans are homeless. After talking to my mom, I really wanted to help build homes for veterans but together we decided on a more realistic goal. We came up with an idea to make hygiene and grooming kits with thank you cards to give to veterans in need. I call them Hero Bags!

I first started this project when I was only 5-years-old. Since then, we’ve raised over $5,000, which has helped me hand out over 2,000 Hero Bags and buy some wishlist items submitted by shelters who help the local veterans. During the winter, we also make sure to stock up on warm gear like coats and blankets to deliver to shelters and people living on the streets.

Over the last few years of my project, I’ve won some really cool awards and have gotten to work with awesome companies like Leesa Mattress who helped me donate over 250 mattresses to a homeless shelter. I even received the Humanitarian Award from Mr. Steve Harvey on Little Big Shots .

This man is one of the people I have helped. He is a senior citizen who served in Vietnam. Veterans like him often need everything from food and clothing to bus passes.  We also deliver items to elderly veterans in their homes and help with a variety of personal emergencies. The veterans appreciate gift cards, food, clothing, toiletries, and even essentials like socks and underwear.

This holiday season, I’m teaming up with a new shelter called Baltimore Station. I want to thank all 90 veterans that live in this shelter for their service and give them a Christmas they’ll never forget. I’m hoping to raise $3,600 so that I can give each of them a Hero Bag for Christmas!

Since I don't run a nonprofit with my mom yet, I could use help from caring people like you to make that happen too. My main focus right now is homeless veterans, but I also want to help other homeless people. When I get this project going and get a nonprofit, I can do both. We’ll need at least $3,000 to submit our 501(c)(3) application and pay the legal fees that go along with it.

Update: This campaign is ongoing. Tyler is still helping veterans. There has been a great demand to continue. Thank you for supporting his goals!

Thank you so much for your support. I appreciate your interest in my desire to help veterans in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia!

My mom will post campaign updates for me and will be managing the money raised for me. I am only 7 after all!  Please send her a Facebook message if you would like to collect hygiene products in your office or church in Maryland, D.C.  or Virginia to help with my project.

Hello! Mom and I hope that everyone is doing well. We're still filling bins to help homeless veterans prepare for cold weather, but MCVET's veterans needed items such as short sleeve shirts, shorts, and jeans.

I am still finding great sales. Thanks to a few new donations, I was able to deliver a few boxes to some of them last week.

I turned eight this week, and I hope to keep this campaign going. I want to keep helping shelters, veterans, and connecting with people like you who care. Every single items helps someone. Nothing is too small!

By the way, I met Selena Gomez, along with a few other kids who also started projects. Let's keep raising awareness for homeless veterans, and the importance of thanking any veteran.

Thank you for everything.

Hello! I just wanted to update everyone about some of the missions that have recently been completed. I honored an elderly veteran who turned 98; provided more essential items to my veteran friend on the street; purchased hats for homeless male veterans for Father's Day; provided shoes and underclothes for veterans who needed special sizes at MCVET, and I am working on filling bins with new socks, clothes and toiletries. I will continue going on missions before the fall, but I am buying cold weather items now. Clearance items are so much cheaper. I can buy more for veterans, when I am able to buy things out of season. I truly appreciate your help. I like to share progress that I'm making so that you know that your support is making a positive impact. If you haven't liked my Facebook page, please visit www.Facebook.com/kidtimeenterprises. I haven't given up on my nonprofit goal. I've been busy finishing school and wrapping up requests. Thanks for everything! I hope that you're having a great summer.

Hello, Supporters:

I hope that everyone is doing well. Mom took me to drop off socks, underwear, clothing, shoes, and toiletries for MCVET's veterans yesterday. Your support allowed me to make another delivery possible. Thank you for your help! There are so many veterans at MCVET. I go back because every delivery helps someone who is a veteran.

Also, I partnered with a mattress company called Leesa. Over 100 new mattresses were delivered to MCVET with hundreds of new pillows. I introduced them to MCVET, then they became partners, too. 250 have been provided, since World Homeless Day. I am very grateful for what Leesa did.

Memorial Day is coming. It is a reminder that veterans risked their lives to serve. In honor of those who didn't make it home, I want to keep doing more to remember our veterans. I appreciate your interest and support. I know that many of you are veterans, or are family members of them. Thank you, too. Together, we can all make a difference.

Hello, Donors:

I've been working on a customized veteran  delivery for Patriot House in Anne Arundel County in Maryland. In addition to toiletries, pillows, sheets, cookware, and storage containers were delivered to veterans who are getting back on their feet. I will be finishing the list soon.

I want to thank donors who keep the Give Back to Veterans project going, and everyone who encourages me! Our veterans in need, and the staff at Patriot House, really appreciated the items.

This mission to support homeless veterans was possible, because of you. The $250 raised after the Orioles honored me helped so much. Have a great week.

Sincerely,
