Empowering Underprivileged Youth

Empowering Underprivileged Youth

In October 2012 we began a journey. My 3 children and myself adopted 40 underprivileged children for Christmas. We networked within the community to put up an Angel Tree as an effort to collect donations from local patrons. We pride ourselves on providing necessity, instead of abundance. Each child is provided at minimum 1 shirt, 1 bottom, 1 pair of shoes and 1 toy. The theory behind this: if a child, in a circumstance, that falls at or under the said poverty line is provided an abundance, how do they identify they have to do more than their parents in order to achieve abundance themselves? Our mission is to empower underprivileged youth by igniting desire and drive to change the cycle of life!

Now, 2016, will be our Angel Tree Program's 5th year! We've increased the amount of children our program supports from 40 (both 2012 & 2013) each year to 80 (both 2014 & 2015) each year! We've had the honor to sprinkle a little sparkle in to 240 children! Remember the program has been running by only my children and myself, with volunteers who help wrap each year. However, this year we have taken a much bigger step! We want to begin a movement within the non profit communities! To share our vision, with the goal of decreasing poverty for the next generation. For us to substantially increase the amount of children we support, we realized it is time to become a non-profit organization!

On April 5, 2016, we received notification from the state of Florida, The Lily Blossoms Foundation, Inc. was approved as a non-profit! While this was a very emotional day for myself, as this has been something I've only ever dreamed of, it is only just the beginning of what we need to begin our foundation. Hours upon hours I sit and research information regarding the start up of a non profit. Our next step is to complete the request to the IRS to be granted a 501c3 status. However, to get there we do need to begin seeking funding.

While we already have Lily's Angel Tree Program to support our mission, we are working on our next program to go forward in empowering today's youth. We plan to build a program to support youth sports, for children who may not have the means and/or resources for the registration fees, equipment and/or tournament fees. Once we get this program operational, we will continue to add programs that support our mission statement.

In order for us to give the glimmer of hope to another 240 children, we need funding. The funding will be used for: salaries to operate, a service to help build the infrastructure needed as a non profit, the 501c3 application process, website and program development.

Donations of any increment are more than appreciated! Even if it's just $1, it's a contribution to improving the life of a child. We hope that you can share this vision and take part in changing the cycle of life for today's underprivileged youth!
