The K-9 Six Project

Donation protected
Eye Kandy is partnering with My Dog’s Care Center to create a new non-profit for veterans called The K-9 Six Project.

This program will be pairing shelter dogs with veterans who are suffering. While service dogs can cost anywhere from $10,000 - $40,000 to train, The K-9 Six Project is partnering dogs that can offer emotional support to veterans at no cost to these veterans. The dogs can ease anxiety, help reduce stress and most importantly, offer compassion.

Often when veterans come home from serving, having a dog that takes commands is therapeutic because the veterans are used to giving commands in the field. There is a term in the military “got your six” which means the guys who have your back – that is what these dogs will do for our veterans. They will have their backs, hence The K-9 “Six” Project.

We are seeking your assistance for sponsorship with this important project. Your donation will go towards adoption fees, training costs and veterinarian costs including immunizations, food and supplies for the dog as well as counseling costs for the veterans.

One veteran / dog pairing can vary between $400-$800 depending on circumstances. Any donation counts!

$150 - will help pay for training costs for the dog
$125 - will pay for a vet visit and any extra immunizations needed for the dog
$100 - will cover two counseling visits for a veteran
$ 75 - will purchase a large dog crate and a dog bed
$ 50 - will help purchase leashes, collars and any other accessories needed
$ 25 - will buy a large bag of dog food
