THE FREEDOM CYPHER

Donation protected
We need help paying for the space for 2015 so we can keep the cypher free for all attendees. We can do this only with your help!

The Freedom Cypher  is a centralized meeting place for Boston’s Hip Hop community to share their gifts over the music of some of the area’s most talented beat makers, composers, producers and DJs. Each month a different beat maker provides the sounds for Emcees, Poets and Singers from across city and state lines to come together and share the microphone. Sometimes improvised, sometimes written, the inspiration is infectious and we invite the community at large to watch, participate and network.

Our 2014 venue, The Democracy Center  which is a non-profit space has allowed us to bring in a mobile recording booth & more! Each month we feature a different beat maker to showcase instrumentals with resident DJ "G7" on the wheels of steel. The Wreck Shop Movement‘s founder and organizer, Justice Born, is always on hand hosting while in-house producer Tommy Forge runs the pop-up recording studio, The Solidified Sound Lab. Co-organizer, Mars Jupiter, has his cassette and vinyl library, The Vibrary, open to the public as well.

The Freedom Cyphers' buzz has grown so strong over the past few years that MassCanns' event organizer Chris Foye invited us to kick off the 2nd day of Bostons annual Freedom Rally aka "Hemp Fest" at the Boston Commons this year.

THIS IS WHERE WE NEED YOUR HELP...

In order for us to maintain this FREE event which has become a staple in the local Hip Hop community we're asking for your help to pay for the space rental for the entire year of 2015 so we don't risk having to relocate again. This fundraiser is not in any way a profit driven initiative. It was conceived to be a platform to help further Hip Hop culture. Any amount you can contribute is greatly appreciated and if you can't donate money to the cause please spread the word!

Beat makers that have showcased at the Freedom Cypher over the past 3 years include:
Crackk Sizzlack, Mango, Jon Glass, Mad Cypha, A.Period (of Main Aim / Wreck Shop) , Nu Element , Balance "The Undiscovered Bum" , Seth Chaos, B Dastardly, Explizit One, Big Thurm , Evill Dewer , Alexander Rose & His Synthetic Orchestra , Relentless, The Dejas (Musicians) Tommy Forge (of Solidified Music / Wreck Shop), Jenova 7, Lightfoot , The Arcitype, Rez The Silverback, Chronic Tone (of ALLMIGHTY), Silly Grinn , Busted Fuse, GS3 Kush aka Sunz of Thunder Shit E Beats Band of Brothers (BPM & Illflo) Too Real, ML Beatz , Mass Appeal , DJ Manipulator, Evill Dewer, Self Serv, Craft Beatz and Internal Quest (of Jersey Sound Lab), AD Beats (Rhode Island)

Risks and challenges:
The only risk we've ever had running The Freedom Cypher has been losing the space due to lack of funds as this has been a FREE event for participants. We don't plan to ever charge entry but space costs money so this is a challenge we aim to overcome with your help.
