Help For a Homeless Veteran

URGENT HELP IS NEEDED FOR HOMELESS VETERAN

It is with great sadness and reservation that I write this story. Why? Not only is the topic sad, but because it is about Thomas Hudson, The Walking Veteran. WalkingVeteran.com

I am a person that usually doesn’t like to bring attention to himself but use the attention to further the goals of helping others. Other than bringing attention during The Walk Across America in 2016 my work has been primarily done behind the scenes. There has been an enormous amount of work done concerning veterans issues where contacts have been made on behalf of veterans. Some examples would be where phone calls where made to officials at various VA medical centers, congressional staff members, attorneys, and referrals to facilitate reasonable resolution to help others. Many times a day will include advising veterans how to seek help or putting them in contact with others who can help.

Another big source of my work has been in the development and inspiring others to excel in their own causes. This has been done with the development of websites for organizations and others thru providing resources and making connections with powerful people who are part of our vast network. To those that have benefited from this help knows that I have never asked or accepted any money for my work and influence with others.

There is always the research and maintaining a relationship with a vast amount of people to work on behalf of veterans. This has been done through VeteransMarch.org  and VPCE.org  (Veterans Political and Congressional Evaluation). USVetsPAC.com  (Veterans Political Action Committee) is the political component of VeteransMarch.org  that works with veterans across the country to evaluate and endorse candidates who are in support of veterans. Several websites have been developed for candidates from senators to mayors without cost to them. Since The Walk Across America I have written newspaper articles for weekly newspaper columns and have even written proclamations for two mayors.

The main work has been to work with veterans in private to simply talk with them, advise, and to work on their behalf with a great sense of pride knowing that their issues have been resolve. My strength also is elevated when children who have come out to support veterans are given inspiration and resources to greater levels with hope and confidence that with a little help all things are possible. I ask all of you that I may have touch and help to take a self examination and know that I only wanted to inspire others without personal gain and without reservation.

With everything mentioned about work their has been little said about how I have kept my personal ordeals private for the most part. Most people have known that I have cancer. What they don’t know is the extent of my tribulations. Back in June when a event for Veterans Walk in Solidarity  was planned in Arkansas I did not plan to go due to health reasons. After much persuasion for me to attend I attended without anyone knowing what I was enduring with my health issues. I went there to speak and did not have a woe is me attitude but stayed focus one the mission.

Only until now am I having to come out a speak about my personal situation due to urgency and the apparent reality of death and the preparation for new leadership to come forth for the massive amount of work that shall continue within the organizations that had been founded to serve others. I would never write this article if the time wasn’t urgent and the situation not be grave. However, I  notified Alice Sue Davis, lead organizational coordinator, of my situation and to be prepared for my potential absence. This had to be done against my stubbornness due to all the logistics of maintaining the organizations and the legalities thereof.

Recently, I had engaged in an investigation where senior citizens were being abuse. I personally had no air conditioner for two weeks and had a management employee to assault me and then acknowledge that he went to the wrong apartment. I was gathering evidence and meant to take a stand for all the residence. As a result I was evicted. Take a look at MuskogeeSeniors.com  and read the stories about Thomas Hudson, The Walking Veteran. This investigation was like the one that I was apart of several years ago where veterans were being abused in another state. That investigation is part of the video that was played to congress and lead to the termination of several people.

Then, very confidential information with the VA was released against HIPAA and published all over the internet. The information was published with the fake and false information that perhaps you all have seen floating around on the internet about myself. This has lead to a physical attack in town by a veteran that I don’t even know. It has also caused over 75 treats to come in private messages and on public comments. When things seem to not be able to get worse a home health care provider [ Read: https://vascandal.news/news/va-and-home-health-contractor-abuses-well-know-veteran-with-cancer] did not pay my bills and ripped my money off. She had also sold my furniture and even took a governors commendation from my suitcase. She did return that after she was reported.

One perhaps would think that the VA would help me. Guess again! I made two appointments with a mental social worker to seek help. Each time I showed up only to discovered that my appointments were canceled. A social worker calls me at 1:30pm on a Friday telling me that they were going to seek a transfer to Oklahoma City. She then calls me again at 4:34pm on a Friday (after hours)to do a suicide assessment. I told here that she was only calling me to cover herself due to the VA’s lack of help and pending investigation of why my confidential information was released and published on the internet.

The Walking Veteran having to walk into homelessness.  The hat has “Vietnam Era” on the top.

Reality is that I have gone through hell, been in the hospital for test, abused, ripped off, and neglected by those that I should have been able to trust. Reality is also that I have been eating crackers and almost out of food with no clean clothes, no money, no preparations and supplies to weather the elements of being homeless and fear of being attacked again because of what is on the internet. Reality is that because of losing my money and bills haven’t been paid meaning that my phone has been turned off along with having to walk out to the streets in the morning with no where to go it will mean death. That may seem like an extreme statement but consider my health and my medications and with no supplies it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how long I will last walking out on the road. Another sad part is that I will have to discard some very brand new medical equipment because of the inability of caring it all walking down the road.

What is ironic is that this week I have received a lot of information from a two year investigation concerning the people that had published all the lies about me online. The ring leader is a felon living in West Virginia. I am not the first innocent veteran that he has done this to and only to raise money. The sad part is now I can’t do anything about it due to my immediate issues.

I have set up a Go Fund Me account if any of you wish to donate. However, if you can;t I will always love you all. I also want to keep within my personal policies of making something positive out of my ordeals. Just like during The Walk Across America I was attacked in a riot and other places, lied against, ran off the road, injured, but with the help of my support team of Angels and by the grace of God I kept going, One Step at A Time.

I want my life and even my immediate situation to mean something positive for others. Please take this opportunity to bring awareness to cyber-bullying, senior abuse, and the need to make changes within the VA for other veterans. I will have another phone that is cheap but I will try to video on Facebook to keep you all updated. I have always stated that I will not allow my illness to define who I am and I will keep going even if it is One Step at a Time.

“A Time to End, A Time to Begin”  Will you begin your walk in life for others?

Thank you all for your friendship and support over the years and keep the faith because the work is not complete. Thomas Hudson
