Ms. G Legacy Fund

Donation protected
It's with the heaviest of hearts I write the following words: Today we have lost Ms. G - mother, partner, daughter, sister, Puente counselor, professor, Arizona Wildcat, Chicana role model, mentor, education advocate.

For nearly 30 years, as an academic counselor and professor at College of the Sequoias, Teresa Guadiana helped students pursue higher education.  Her approach to counseling was one of building family relationships, so it's no wonder many of her students throughout the years became her close friends, visiting and even serenating her during her final hours.

As one of her most current students recently posted upon hearing of her passing,  "Not only was she my counselor, professor, and boss when I worked for the Puente Center at one point, but she was also the most influential and motivational person in my life. Being the first in my family to go to college and her being the one to guide me through my first years of college and motivate not only me, but so many students, means a lot. Ms. G had the biggest heart ever, and she will remain in my heart forever."

Another student posted: "Ms. G, thank you for everything that you did for me while I was at COS. You provided a family for me where I could be myself, meet new people, and find who I wanted to be and what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Being a part of the Puente program opened my eyes to so many different opportunities. You cared about every single one of your students and I am so honored that I got to be one of them."

Many of you have contacted me about ways to help out, and while I do not know any specifics at this time, I figure that raising some funds for Ms. G's family can be beneficial.  This fund is being set up as a way for us - friends, students, colleagues, etc. -  to help Ms. G's family with any unforeseen costs due to her passing.

Sorry if this is short and not so eloquently written, but as many of you, the heartbreak is fresh and the air too thin; it's difficult to breathe.
