Save Tedco Electronics Melbourne Fl

Donation protected

Hello everyone!

I am on a quest to save vintage radios, tube amplifiers, and stereo's!

The greatest generation is passing away and vintage electronics are being thrown away!

I am also on a quest to save the last remaining vintage electronics repair company in Brevard County, and perhaps in all of the state of Florida!

I need your help!  I need 1500 people to lend me $100 each (or 150 people to loan me $1000) for a total of $150,000.

I know the answer is no but I at least wanted to ask.

If you are unable to make a loan perhaps you can make a small donation to this campaign.

Tedco Electronics is an old school electronics repair and an electronics parts supplier to the public.  Think of an old school Radio Shack from way back in the day.

In the mid 1960's when Tedco was started the Space Race was on and companies were forming in the Space Coast Region of the East Coast of Florida.  Ted Woodbury formed Tedco April of 1966.  Tedco provided the electronic parts for companies to build their products to be used by NASA.

The owner is now 81 years of age and he is seeking to retire.  Looking at the businesses it has served him and his community very well.  Times have changed over the years and he has kept the business the same all of these years.  New technology is out there, and Ted has chosen to remain with the old school way that he always has, and time is slowly fading past.  He realizes the business needs some young blood.

Ted has asked his customers "who do you know that can run this place"?  The name that popped up the most was Walter Young.  One day as I was buying some electronic parts to restore a vintage pinball machine he asks me "so when are you going to buy this place"?  I was taken aback!  I told him "If I ever win the lottery I am coming down here and buying this place from you"!

Over the months we have chit chatted about him selling and me buying the place.  I thought he was pulling my leg until the day he made me an offer that I could not refuse!

I could not believe that my dream of owning this place could actually come true!  I remember the days when I was 10 years old and reading the electronic magazines on the shelf as my dad was buying CB parts, and then the days that I started fixing pinball machines in my high school years to trade out for free sandwiches at a local ice cream parlor on Wickham Rd and Aurora Rd that grew in to a mega coin op arcade with the arrival of Pac Man and you know the rest of that history! People could not get enough of video games and the industry exploded!

In 1981 my family bought C&T Arcade on Apollo Blvd in Melbourne Florida.  We bought Mrs Pac Man, Centipede, Donkey Kong, Stargate, Robotron, Frogger, Tempest, and a Mrs and Mrs Pac Man Pinball Machine. These were added to a line up of Asteroids, Space Invaders, Missile Command, Battlezone, and many other such classics.  I repaired these games and learned on the newest and latest emerging technologies at that time.  Times were great.  Being in the middle of the arcade frenzy, and learning cutting edge electronics.  I could not have been happier.  I was soon repairing arcade and pinball machines for Aurora Rd Billiards, Fun Machine, Brady's Family Game Center, Mission Control, Shakey's Pizza and machines located in 7-11s.

About me?  These days I am still working on coin op arcade machines and pinball machines. These machines are kept by private collectors who relive their childhood, or who buy trade and sell collectables, and those who have a goal to keep these machines alive and well.

Over the years I have worked in the home theater and the alarm business.  I love the low voltage electronics field.  I became a video surveillance expert and I was hired by the Spy Source Warehouse to manage the place.  Sales and Installation was right up my alley and I jumped at the opportunity to work there.  When the business was sold I chose not to work for the new owner.  I am now working for a company that does TV repair and appliance repair.  TV repair is slowly coming to a halt as the sets get cheaper and cheaper and the quality of the TV's get better and better.  You do not find many TV repair shop these days.  I need to look for a new career path.  When the opportunity came up to buy Tedco a dream has started to come true.

I love working on 1940's radios, vintage musician amplifiers, turntables, tape decks, and rebuilding speakers. Many of these devices are now collectable and must retain their original parts in order to maintain their collectable value.  Repairing a vintage guitar amp and keeping the original paper cone speaker has brought many collectors a sigh of relief!

Please help me on my venture in restoring classic vintage electronics and coin op arcade machines and pinball machines, and saving old vintage electronic radios and stereo's!
