Corporations dispose of millions of working computers every year, yet millions of low-income households do not have computers due to the cost.
Technology for Families In Need (TechFIN) works to divert some of these machines from the scrap heap to the living room.
Our corporate sponsors donate their old computers to TechFIN. We arrange bulk transportation, to our storage and workspace where a mix of staff and volunteers work to prepare the machines for distribution to families in need.
This work includes wiping or replacing hard drives, installing a new operating system, Microsoft Office, Mint and Adobe Acrobat.
The computers are deployed in mass to pre-screened families in need. This program has delivered 400 computers to low-income families in just over a year.
We are looking to raise $50,000 to keep this good work going. A simple computer can be a transformative thing for a family in need. Please help us today.
