Team Brooklyn

Hello and thankyou for checking out my page! My name is Kayleigh and I run a page on Facebook in memory of my little boy Brooklyn who passed away on 13th July 2014 at just 16 months old...... Team Brooklyn!

Brooklyn was born on 10th March 2013with a very complex and rare form of congenitel heart disease. Heterotraxy syndrome, affecting about 4 in 1,000,000 babies born.

Brooklyn spent his life in and out of hospital and was treated at The Children's Heart Unit, Freeman Hospital. Where he had open heart surgery to prolong his life.

Between been in and out of hospital Brooklyn was a bright, happy little boy with a smile that could light a room. Brooklyn lived at home with me, his older brother Jay, 8, Maisie, 4 & his big Brother Ryan, 7 who he loved to spend time with on weekends.

Around 11th July 2014 Brooklyn appeared to be unwell so I took him to hospital with a suspected chest infection. Doctors diagnosed a viral infection and sent us home.

On the morning of July 13th I woke to Brooklyn's lifeless body. At only 16 months old he has passed away.

Post mortom tests showed Brooklyn had died due to multiple infections & his underlying medical conditions.

After the initial shock of loosing Brooklyn myself & some friends set up Team Brooklyn!

At first we wanted to raise money for Brooklyn's memorial & CHUF, the Children's Heart Unit Fund. We set about organising numerous events. In the 6 months after Brooklyn passed away we raised over £2000 for his headstone & over £2000 for CHUF. We did a bungee jump, 7 mile run, bag pack & a nighttime event with music from local bands.

This year we're hoping to make Team Brooklyn even bigger by opening our open website, having our Twitter page fully up and running & turning Team Brooklyn into a recognised charity.

We want to help poorly children & bereaved parents focusing around our local hospital.

After Brooklyn passed away he was taking to treetops at UHND.

We're hoping that this year we're able to donate a cuddle cot to the ward. A cuddle cot is a portable cooling machine placed in a Moses basket helping to keep the babies cool allowing families the gift of time with their loved one.

We're also hoping to be involved in after care of parents who have lost a child & help make their journey that little bit easier.

To help us in any way please donate. Even just £1 helps.
