For those of you that do not know me, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kari Mercer and Tressa Hollinger is one of my dear friends/clients. Our friendship started out as a client/stylist relationship and has grown into an extremely close friendship over the past 10 years.
When Tressa first told me she was pregnant with Lyndi I was beyond thrilled and knew she and Gy would be wonderful parents, which they've lived up to....times 3!
I will never forget hearing about Lyndi becoming sick and seeing her with puffy purple eyes and a huge swollen belly, we were all worried sick and wanted answers to what was going on! At 18 months she was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease called Nephrotic Kidney Syndrome. Lyndi just celebrated her 7th birthday and has had MANY stays at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital due to her kidneys functioning improperly causing her severe discomfort and sickness. Lyndi has endured numerous concoctions of steroids and other meds to control her flares but nothing seems to be working.
About a month ago Lyndi went into acute kidney failure. If it hadn't been for Tressa taking her in for routine blood work they may not have caught it and she would have gone into complete kidney failure which in turn would require hours of dialysis. She's 7, it's not fair!
Due to the acute kidney failure Lyndi will be receiving weekly infusions of a medication called Albumin in which she's hooked up 6-7 hours a day. They are looking at possibly 3 times a week for this.
What I'm asking of everyone is to consider donating in help with the financial burden of driving to DeVos back and forth that insurance will not cover for 6-8 weeks by only being reimbursed, they need the help now. Tressa can not work on the days of infusions so there is also the financial burden of lost wages. This family means so much to me and it kills me to see them hurting because I know for a fact they would help me andmy family even if it were the last dime they had. Anything you can do to help will be amazing!
