Please watch the attached video clip from NBC2 News for the full story that all started with my two 7 year old nieces donating money in lieu of gifts to Hurricane Irma victims for for their birthday. They met Judy one hot afternoon, and we knew we needed to help further, so my husband went down to Everglades City to offer his help.
Meet Judy Barton. A 3rd generation resident from Everglades City, FL who just lost EVERYTHING, including her house, furniture, and the majority of all of her personal belongings that were nearest and dearest to her due to Hurricane Irma. Her husband Don died 4 years ago of a heart attack after helping tornado victims in Tennessee so she is all alone.
For the past 4 weeks she has been sleeping between her car, the neighbors porch, and her other neighbors couch. She is just about the most prideful woman my husband Joey and I have ever met, not wanting to impose on anyone after everything she has been through this past month. After Joey and a crew of about 10 people emptied out her house last week the remaining items she gathered that were most important to her were stolen one night off the neighbors porch.
Judy needs HELP everybody, she needs a safe & clean environment to sleep in immediately. She is on the FEMA list for temporary housing but FEMA is swamped with claims. Our initial goal is forTEAM JUDY to raise $10,000 in an effort to buy a trailer to park on her property for temporary living until we can hopefully raise enough money to help build a permanent home.
OUR ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO RAISE $100,000 W/ THE HELP OF FEMA AND YOU TO BUILD JUDY A NEW HOUSE!! LET'S DO THIS.....

We are happy to say that Judy has received her trailer and the deed is now in her name. She is living comfortably on her property until her house is knocked down. GO TEAM JUDY!!
