On July 23rd, we lost the greatest Dad and best Grandpa in the world to esophageal cancer. Taken from us too quickly and too soon, we miss him every day but are grateful for the many, many memories he left behind. If you knew Bill, you know he loved activities! Tennis, golf, paddle tennis, walks on the boardwalk - sitting still just wasn't his thing. And he also loved to help people. We have been overwhelmed since his passing of the stories of his kindness - from his friends to co-workers from years ago, everyone has had a story to tell about how kind our Dad was, and we are eternally grateful for these stories.
On September 16th, Team Bill will participate in the Born to Run 5K in Packanack Lake and raise funds for the Bruce Eckrote Memorial Fund. Bruce is a local Packanack dad who also lost his life in esophageal cancer, and his family organizes this race every year to raise money. The funds raised via the Born to Run 5K support local families affected by cancer as well as gastrointestinal cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering. They are a tiny organization and don't have the means for team fundraising on their own website so we've set up this GoFundMe to raise money as a team and will donate it all to the Bruce Eckrote Memorial Fund after the race.
