Taylor Family's Wish for a Baby

Donation protected
During the year, we hear so many touching stories on the news about the hardships and heartbreaks that people suffer.  When I heard this story about a friend's son, it really touched me and I hope it will touch you and inspire you to give this holiday season.

Delaware natives Cory and Brittany Taylor are a military family currently stationed at Naval Base San Diego in California. The Taylors married in 2014 and dreaming of a large family, they were thrilled to welcome their daughter, Makayla Jaylee , back in 2012. Three years later, they learned that they were again expecting a sister for Makayla! At 24 weeks, Brittany went into labor and baby Bella Michelle was born. Bella weighed only 1 pound, 4 ounces at birth and sadly lived for just an hour. At the time, doctors attributed her passing to a sporadic genetic mutation. Devastated, but still praying for more children, the Taylors were overjoyed to learn this year that a baby was on the way. Petty Officer 3rd Class Cory Taylor was transferred to California, and the entire family made a successful move before the due date.

On Sept. 4th, daughter Nala Eliyah Taylor was born. But in the days before her delivery, the doctors expressed concern about the baby’s enlarged kidneys. Within 72 hours of Nala’s birth, the doctors confirmed that Nala had CPT2, a rare and lethal metabolic disorder that prevents the body from using certain fats for energy. The doctors gave her anywhere from days to a few months to live. The Taylors hopes were raised when Nala seemed to thrive on the first two days of her life, but two days later she passed away in her mother’s arms.  (Nala is shown in her father's arms in the family picture.)

CPT2 is an extremely rare condition and is estimated to be found in less than 1 in 1,000,000 people. Sadly, both Taylors are carriers and their chances of having another healthy child are slim. But doctors have offered them hope that they might still expand their family through  in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

Unfortunately, the cost for required test  IVF is prohibitive for this young family on a military salary. I am starting this fund to help the Taylor family realize their dream of welcoming home another healthy, happy baby. Please join me in this effort.

I am hoping to raise $15,000 in the next 60 days.
