Transcendental Meditation to Prison

Warm Greetings! My name is Tawanda Miller and I am from the USA.
I am on my way to Teacher Training Course, in Bali, to become a Transcendental Meditation (TM) Teacher. My desire is to teach TM in prisons and jails all over the USA. Prior to attending Maharishi University of Management, I worked as a Law Encorcement Officer. While employed for the Sheriff's Office, I spent three years working as a corrections officer for adults, male and female. This was one of the most intense, heart wrenching, unpredictable, tiring and yet rewarding experiences of my life. I spent 12 hours a day with misguided souls that most would simply call murderers, rapist, drug dealers, you name it. I referred to them as my friends. I have a stack of letters from many of my friends, thanking me for making a difference in their lives. I was thankful, but also grief stricken over these letters because I was able to walk out of that misery and go home to a loving family everyday, but they had to stay there, some for life. I wanted so desperately to give them so much more. I wanted to raise them out of their hopeless states of mind and I wanted to give them something that no one could ever take away. I wanted to give them freedom from within, but I didn't know how. Two years after leaving that job, my Son, (now a MUM graduate) sent me Maharishi's book, "Science of Being and the Art of Living". After reading it from cover to cover, I had the answers and I knew what I had to do. After much contemplation and inward reflection, I followed my heart. I turned in my two week notice at work, and enrolled at MUM. The knowledge I've gained, becoming a Siddha (advance meditator) my first semester, attending many World Peace Assemblies's, and interacting with Mother Divine, the students and teachers has tremendously impacted my life. Attending MUM has given me a platform from which I can spread my wings and fly. I learned about the very succesful, ongoing David Lynch "Freedom Behind Bars" Projects, https://www.davidlynchfoundation.org/prisons.html which I look forward to working with. I want to give this knowledge to the world, especially those that are suffering the most. I am deeply grateful to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Jai Guru Dev, and all of those who have worked diligently to spread this beautiful knowledge of bringing Peace to the world. I look forward to carrying the torch, and lighting as many hearts as I can.
