Tractors for Africa

Tax deductible
Tractors for Africa (TFA) was founded by Mark York, a Catholic SDSU alumni. This organization finds, purchases, fixes and sends old tractors to Africa. TFA wants to send older, mechanical tractors to Africa because they are less complicated and easier to repair than newer, electrical tractors.  To keep things simple they have started to only send John Deere 3020s. A tractor will be able to plow about 500 acres per year. Currently, 98% of all farm work is done by hand or animal labor. Yields would be increased by at least 80%.

Students at the Piux XII Newman Center at SDSU discovered TFA and founded an affiliated chapter.  Our minimum goal is to repair and send two tractors to Ghana, West Africa.  The approximate cost to repair and send a tractor is $25,000.  A founding donor has agreed to match donations dollar for dollar.  Any funds over $50,000 will go toward sending additional tractors.

If you would like to see the progress of the repairs please visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/SDSUTFAS/.

Thank you and God bless.
