Sweet As Mousse - Help Mousse Recover

Donation protected
Mousse is the sweetest 7-year old volunteer therapy dog, starting the recovery from a spinal stroke on Easter Sunday. Mousse loves to play fetch, loves to cuddle and is a volunteer therapy dog in retirement homes and the children’s hospital. The sweetest girl, always ready to play and eager to be friends with everyone. She’s the kind of dog that will happily play “doggie school” with kids, dutifully (and oh so patiently) obeying their commands, no matter how silly or repetitive. She loves to play, loves to run and loves her humans so very much.

This past weekend Mousse unexpectedly suffered a spinal stroke, ending up needing extensive emergency veterinary care. Despite considerable pain, she patiently sat through the exams, car rides and procedures. She is staying at the veterinary hospital until she is healthy enough to go home.

Our sweet Mousse has a long road ahead of her getting back on her feet. Once she comes home she will be doing rehab 2-3x a week for the coming few months. With rehab Mousse hopes to regain the use of her hind legs through physiotherapy and rehab on an underwater treadmill. Thankfully labs love water!

The costs of the veterinary care she has needed, and the upcoming rehab months are growing. We would like to help make this as easy as possible for Mousse, and her human Caitlin, and hope others will consider helping her along the way.

If you are able to support Mousse by donating and then sharing it with your network, we would be so grateful. I know that money can be tight, so please know that even $5 or sharing Mousse’s link on your networks would make a big difference! Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to answer them or pass them along to Caitlin.

Best wishes,
Megan (& Charlie – key teacher of “doggie school”)

UPDATE: Mousse is at home! She is trying to come to terms with all of this laying around, not easy for a playful girl. She does try to bum scoot around, and has some serious distain for the harness that allows her humans to pick her up and take her back to bed. We are waiting on her physio/rehab to start on Tuesday.

UPDATE 2.0: Mousse LOVED her first rehab session! Mostly because she was finally allowed out of the house and released from bed rest. Also because they had yummy homemade peanut butter pupsicles to motivate her to stand and to ignore the machines used to stimulate her nerves.
