I am making this request for help for my mother, Susan Sharkey, who is bravely fighting cancer. She was diagnosed in October 2017 with stage 3 liver and bile duct cancer. My mother is the most beautiful, loving and caring person I have ever met. I have seen her not only be there for me…always… but so many others in her life as well. She’s, even during this time of personal struggle, been drawn to paint Angels for those who are fighting this same monster, to give them hope, even when hope isn’t something she always has for herself. That’s just who my mother is. Because of such a Beautiful example of how to be there for those who needed her, I gladly and thankfully became her full time caregiver and emotional support.
A year after chemotherapy and radiation treatment we were making progress with the larger tumor on her liver. I had stopped growing and had decreased in size. We thought the hard part was over when three months ago a CT scan showed new tumors throughout her lymph system. This greatly concerns her doctors. Cancer and Chemo have destroyed my moms’ teeth to where they all must be removed. She has no dental insurance to cover the dentures. And she is too thin. We need help with food as she goes through oral surgery and recovery
It has taken everything we had this past year: all our finances, available credit and human energy to make it to this point
She has suffered several set backs because of house repairs – the sewer line, the furnace and the hot water heater all went out this winter. Now she has the expense of her dentures as well.
I want to provide my mother with financial security which she would have with the house debt paid. And the dentures covered.
Also she has a dream of creating an art studio in the back sunroom where she can paint her angels. This is her gift and she loves not just creating beautiful paintings but giving them away to show love and support. I want to give her the gift of a beautiful studio space, full of art supplies where she can paint with her friends.
My mom has so much more to give and she is excited for the chance to share her art in such a meaningful way.
I’m humbly asking for help for my mother in this fight. She is not done blessing those around her with her love..especially me. Please help me keep her here longer…much longer. I am doing all I can but I need help…
