Support Eugenia's Recovery

Donation protected
Hello everyone. I’m Eugenia’s daughter, Raquel. Life took a challenging turn and our family trully needs support.

My mom had hip-replacement surgery on November 14th, 2017. During the procedure, the surgeon  hit a main artery that caused a lot of complications . Her heart went into cardiac arrest and the emergency response team was able to stabalize her.
She was in the ICU for a week and she has had a total of 4 surgeries, the last one being an amputatioon of her foot and part of her leg.

She has been so strong and getting better little by little each day. And her attitude is really amazing and inspiring.  After a month in the hospital, she is finally at a rehab center close to home. She will be at the rehab until she is strong enough to do things on her own, at least a few more weeks , and after that, she will be able to come home.

As a family, we are just so happy that she is still here with us, and so grateful to God.

Unfortunately, because of all of this, she will not be able to return to work as soon as she was planning to. Our family's usual life expenses are piling up, but also my mom now has medical costs for all of her unexpected surgeries, amputation, time in ICU, and an extended stay in the hospital and rehab center. She does have insurane but they will only cover a portion of the bills. We know that bills will soon be arriving.

We were told that $30,000 may be a reasonable estimate, and more on the low end - and this a substantial challenge that we would love some support with.

My incredible mom is a single mother who pays all the bills at home and lives and takes care of my two younger siblings - my sister Brittany, who is seventeen years old, and my beautiful brother Benjamin, who is 14 years old - who requires more a lot care than most kids his age as he is on the autism spectrum. Most of our family live in Costa Rica, so they are not able to be here and help us.

If you can, please consider helping our family - ANYTHING at all will help.

Thank you so much,
Raquel

****If you do not know my mom, here is a little bit about my amazing and wonderful mom:

Eugenia came to Boulder 20 years ago. She is a single mother of three kids.  She has worked to improve our community and make it more inclusive for everyone. She has partnered with local school districts, numerous non-profits, and community organizations to increase awareness of the strengths and gifts of those in the Autism Community. Her goal is always to have kids on the Autism spectrum feel like they can be themselves, and for their families to understand them and accept them, as she believes acceptance can make all of the difference in their lives.

Through the years, she has worked to educate and support teenagers at risk for drug and alcohol use, Latino and Immigrant families, helping them to become leaders in their community, as well as people with less access to resources. Also, partnering along side parents seeking engagement and support, and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

"What an honor I have had in these twenty years! No matter where I have been in my life, every time I have moved forward, I always left behind a very good group of friends that I have been forever impacted by, bettered by, and grateful for. "~Eugenia Brady
