Friday night football at your own home stadium is more than just a game under lights.....
It bonds a community
It builds school spirit and pride
It is a showcase for talent on and off the field
And it's time we brought it to South Elgin!
Along with South Elgin High School Boosters, a small group of dedicated administrators and parents have taken on the next step toward completing the stadium at SEHS. That next step is........
LIGHTING THE STORM
Reaching our $250,000 goal will make this happen!
In 2006 the SEHS Booster Foundation began the effort to bring a stadium to South Elgin High School. That effort along with the support of local business owners, parents and the community transformed an empty space into our own home field, opening on September 17, 2011
Since that amazing fall afternoon, there has been little progress around the facility but with your help that is about to change!
Here's the plan,
1) Raise Awareness - this is a HUGE undertaking, we need for people to know what we are trying to do. Use social media and personal networks you already have to get the word out that the project has started. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, email, print and post at work, church, clubs, restaurants, bars, nail and hair salons, gas stations, bait shops etc. - You get the point right?
2) Build Momentum - Our goal is to bring the tradition of a true community event to the Village of South Elgin. If the project is seen as simply lights over a football field, we are going to have trouble making this dream a reality. We need your help to build a STORM of support!
3) Start Selling! - There's a saying that goes something like this..."Nothing happens until someone sells something". This couldn't be more true with this project. In this case, selling is not trying to manipulate people into paying for things they don't want or need - it's as simple as sharing your enthusiasm for our goal and asking the people around you to support your effort.
4) LIGHT THE STORM - If we can hit our goal of $250,000 raised by April 1, 2016 we will be able to get lights up and running before our first home game in September of 2016.
We need EVERYONE to be that SOMEONE that sells this project. Even a small effort is never too small and if you see an opportunity but need help, please let us know!
Also - please note that Friday night football means that over 250 band students, cheerleaders, faculty, staff and parents are then free to particpate in other fall sports or non school related activities on Saturdays!
We want SEHS to be the place to be on Friday nights in the fall. With your help we can make this happen!
