Support Vijay and his family

Vijay Karthik, aged 35 was diagnosed with esophageal cancer on 04/13/2020 at the University of Minnesota hospital in Minneapolis. Living in the U.S. for only 2 years on work visa in an IT company, he was the sole breadwinner of his family of 3 consisting of his wife and 5-year old son. The diagnosis and condition has shattered and depressed his family.

His diagnosis, Stage 3-4 esophageal cancer, is an aggressive form of cancer affecting the food pipe and is very hard to treat. Due to the nature of his condition, he has not taken in food or liquid by mouth for 5 months now. Having not received proper nutrients for several weeks, he had an artificial food pipe inserted into his stomach to give him any strength before chemotherapy.

Unfortunately his body did not accept it. The insertion had failed twice.
Thus, he is too weak for chemotherapy his only option is to undergo immunotherapy.

Just one dose of immunotherapy costs of $40,000. Vijay Karthik needs 6-8 doses to survive. These immunotherapy treatments are also not getting covered by insurance.

Vijay Karthik’s excruciating condition, five months in the hospital, continues on.

As a newly immigrated family from India, they do not know many people nor they have many friends or family to support them through their agonizing struggle here. This was the purpose of this campaign, to show that we, also as common people, can come together and support a family whom we may or may not be close to.

The rest assured, Vijay Karthik and his family are grateful and beholden for all those who contribute and make sure that they are in their thoughts and hearts forever.

So please, join hands, and contribute as much as you possibly can to support this family. Let our hearts go out to this family and support them through their impediments. Let them know they are not alone.
