#WeLoveTeachers

Do you care about music education and local performance opportunities for local students? Help bring the 2017 Summer Opera Program to life! After the success of Stafford Opera Troupe 's inaugural program last year, we want to keep this opportunity tuition-free for students-- but we need your support.

This year's program will take place July 18-August 4, 2017 as we present Henry Purcell's Dido & Aeneas. We cannot wait to take on our first full opera production, and we can't do it without the help of our community. Every dollar makes a difference in the lives of local music students.

About Stafford Opera Troupe:

Stafford Opera Troupe was founded in 2016 by a team of dedicated volunteers. Our mission? To bring the beauty of opera to the students and community of Stafford and Fredericksburg, Virginia and surrounding areas.

Opera doesn't have to be pomp and circumstance. Opera is raw. Opera is real. Opera is for everyone. Let us show you!

The arts make us who we are; we want to share that with the students and community of Stafford, VA. It all started in Mrs. Bonita Keene's chorus classroom at Mountain View High School. The young singers' responses to learning about and hearing opera were so enthusiastic, it made us realize how little opportunity they have to experience opera and classical voice in their hometown-- and we felt that had to change! So we teamed up to craft an experience that would allow these young singers to delve into the world of opera, operetta, and musical theatre, developing their musical abilities and becoming well-rounded performers.

Stafford Opera Troupe launched its inaugural Summer Opera Program in 2016. This two- to three-week fun and educational training program is designed for students of high school age. Mentored by the program faculty alongside experienced Peer Mentors, participants develop their voice and acting skills, learn about performance practice and etiquette, and sing stunning music from opera, operetta, and musical theatre repertoire. The program culminates in a public performance of opera scenes or an opera production, in which every student has the opportunity to perform as a soloist in addition to ensemble and chorus work.

We believe students shouldn't have to pay thousands of dollars in order to grow their craft. That's why SOT is tuition-free.

We couldn't be more committed to our mission, but we need your help to carry our program into 2017.

Stafford Opera Troupe wouldn't be possible without the generosity of our supporters. In order for us to remain tuition-free, we depend upon the community to come alongside us and help cover the costs of accompanists, production expenses, promotional needs and more. Considering helping us by making a donation and spreading the word!
