Fight for Five: SPIKE OUT Melanoma
Donation protected
The inspiration for this fundraiser comes from the former Demon Deacon field hockey player, Maria Whitehead, who lost her battle with Melanoma at the young age of 25. Although small in stature, her hardwork and determination never went unnoticed, and empowered those around her. In 2002, Maria led the Demon Deacons to their first ACC and NCAA championships. Her legacy has left an imprint on our lives and continues to inspire us all.
The Wake Forest field hockey team is hosting a Spikeball tournament in order to spread awareness and raise money for Melanoma research - all proceeds will be donated to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. The tournament will take place on April 22nd at noon in McCreary Field House.
We want to raise $5,000 in honor of Maria, who wore #5 on her back with pride as her time as a Deac. Thank you in advance for your help and support!
Please help spread the word!
