Fuel For Equine Haulers-SoCal Fires

Southern California is on fire.  Our horse community has been extraordinary in their response to volunteer supplies, manpower, feed, and more.  This fund raiser is to support the brave men and women who are hauling horses out of danger zones to safety.  There have been thousands of miles driven and many, many long hours put in by these volunteers.  They have staged behind fire lines in danger zones to help rescue animals that had to be left behind or were suddenly in need of evacuation.  At San Luis Rey Downs, they loaded and moved nearly 400 horses in mere hours as flames were raining down in the area.  Driving a rig, whether a 2 horse bumper pull or a 10 horse Freightliner, is expensive.  Fuel prices alone can be crushing but so many of these teams also spent multiple nights staged up in evacuation areas, ready to move on a moments notice.  These teams have evacuated horses, donkeys, llamas, sheep, goats, pigs, ducks and more!  They have managed difficult, frightened animals who didn't want to be caught or loaded.  All funds raised will be distributed to these brave men and women to help cover their cost of fuel and supplies.  Please donate generously and if you personally have a hauler to thank, please post your name, fire location and what town your animals were hauled out of.    Please realize these haulers are still actively working, either returning horses to their barns in some areas or moving horses out of harm's way as new evac orders come down for the Thomas Fire.  Please give generously and help these front line, first responders!
