Welcome to our page! We need your help to bring this exciting new chamber opera to the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
What's the opera about?
A Count and the Countess go riding through a field of snow, where they find a young girl - the perfect girl, the girl of the Count's dreams and desires. As the three ride on together and their story turns to tragedy, three narrators chart watch and wait.
Owain Park's operatic adaptation of Angela Carter's dark and intense fairy tale is a brilliant and haunting new chamber work from a terrific young composer - receiving strong reviews for its choral writing, its poeticism, and its evocation of an icy and barren landscape.
This new opera promises to make and exciting and powerful impact at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Why we need your help?
To make this production happen we need to bring a talented team of 25 people to Edinburgh; this includes singers, musicians and the production team, incurring significant transport and accommodation costs. Add in the hiring of a venue for a week with publicity costs and suddenly things get very expensive indeed. We are delighted to have received support from the Cambridge Univeristy Opera Society, but need your help to bring this project to fruition. Meet the team
Owain - Musical director - is a composer whose works are published by Novello and have been performed internationally by ensembles including the Tallis Scholars, the Aurora Ensemble and Norweigian Soloists' Choir.
Gareth - Director - is a prolific director of opera, theatre and film. He is currently studying for an MPhil in Screen Media and Cultures.
Kevin - Producer - is studying for an MSt in Creative Writing with a focus on playwrighting. He has produced a number of plays around Cambridge over the last 18 months across everything from drama to comedy.
