Getting a sick stray cat to the vet

Donation protected
This is a feral cat we've named "Sir Hobo "that's been coming to our home since the beginning of 2018, at first very quickly only to run off when we would walk in to where we keep our cat food for our pets. It's been a very slow process but now he is starting to actual sleep inside (the weather is getting colder) and getting more used to us, on occasions finally allowing us to pet him.

We have noticed he has been sick for a long time, with obvious respiratory problems. Some days this seems worse than others as he has to keep his tongue sticking out just to breathe, and his breathing sounds like he's having a lot of difficulty. Recently we also noticed the pads on two of his paws are extremely swollen and causing him pain to walk. This morning he seems more lethargic and was not interested in eating - normally he eats ridiculous amounts, even after being de-wormed. So we just called a vet to get an estimate and schedule him for tomorrow morning.

The vet proposes to take a blood sample for blood tests to determine if he has a virus, and an x-ray to check the lungs, hopefully possibly without sedation and enough people to hold him, because he's definitely not going to like it. They will administer some antibiotics and anti inflammatory medicine. Ultimately they have to see him to know for sure and from there, see the results of the tests to know how to proceed. It's difficult for them to give an exact estimate, but they said it could easily be around 160 euro for the first visit.

We have already received, up until now,  80 euro in donations in response to a post made on facebook to go towards his vet bills. At this point seeing him looking worse today, we decided money issues aside, we will take him in first thing in the morning, so any additional help is greatly appreciated. At least we can get the first step taken care of and then figure out how to handle what other bills might be needed for any additional procedures he will have to face.  If we go over our goal, the extra money will be put towards any additional vet bills, and finally getting him neutered. If we receive more than required for all of that, the remaining money will go to a cat related charity

Anyway, we will be sure to post more photos, videos, vet bills and updates on his progress and hopefully of a speedy recovery.
