Shirley's Hope Fund
She has overcome a multitude of challenges in the last sixty years of her life; tetnus, congenital visual impairment, miscarriages, giving birth to disabled children, debilitating eczema.
Sixteen years ago, she fought and overcame breast cancer. Now, she’s fighting to overcome another cancer diagnosis.
We, as a family, are asking out of humility, for the funds to pay for cancer treatments that are not covered by insurance. We’ve thoroughly researched the facility, its credentials, and its medical protocols. Any donation, great or small, would be helpful in providing our family with peace of mind as we strive to give my mother the best chance possible to overcome her cancer. She deserves to see her granddaughters grow up. She deserves to live a long and productive, positive life. As do we all.
Funds would also be used to compensate for my mother's inability to work at this time.
We are strong believers in faith and the power of prayer. All prayers are welcome and much appreciated. Any questions are also encouraged.
Many thanks for your time and your generosity.
The Albee family
Thank you for all of your prayers and thank you to everyone who has donated.
We have an immediate need of $900 specifically for an alternative health care protocol. If you are able to donate, you can do so through here or to Shirley directly. On behalf of my family, we thank you for continuing to PRAY, and to SHARE the update with others.
Now a week later, she’s dealing with more pain, lack of appetite, and nausea and is in the hospital, although we do expect her to return home soon.
Last month, a CT scan revealed two more masses on top of the cancer in her lung and liver: One in the bladder and one between her diaphragm and colon – this one between the diaphragm and colon is a mass pressing down on her bowels and it has caused her great pain, which she has managed using an infrared heating pad. At this time, I don’t have much more information and I hope to speak to her oncologist next week sometime to obtain more specific details.
Please pray for our family, and for my mom of course; for peace, for understanding, for patience and for hope for the future. It’s difficult and overwhelming for myself and my dad and brother to witness this. I’m also aware it’s difficult for my mom to be in such a position. She may live only a short time, or she may live longer than we expect. (I really hope!) She’s always been a fighter and an optimist in many ways. I find myself having to balance hope with practicality and it’s a very fine line to walk and can be very overwhelming if I sit and think about it too long.
If you’d like to donate please continue to do so. You may also donate DIRECTLY – either to me (by Facebook messaging Sara Beth Williams) or by messaging my mom. Every donation helps. She has been and continues to utilize alternative healthcare methods, which cost more money, as well she takes immunity supplements and so forth.
Please SHARE THIS with family, friends who know Shirley who might not have Facebook
Please continue to PRAY and DONATE. Thank you so much for everyone who has come to us with support both financial and in prayer. From my family to you, we appreciate you all.
We would have done an update sooner but my father was in the hospital. He is doing better now.
Though things are progressing in the right direction, my mom's fight is NOT OVER yet. Please DONATE (every amount matters!) SHARE and continue to pray for my mom's health, and overall for my family's stress level as it has been very stressful around here lately.
Thank you again to everyone. My family and I greatly appreciate all of your support, no matter who you are. Thank you!
You can also donate directly to my family if you wish by messaging my mom or I. Thanks!
September is a month of celebration. My daughter's birthday is 3 days after my mom's birthday and this year she is turning 5. I am extremely excited for this milestone in her life. Since we have planned her party for Sunday, my mom's friends are able to throw her a birthday party on Saturday, which is also exciting.
Reason #2 to celebrate: As of her latest testing results, my mom's cancer has not worsened since April. Obviously we want it to decrease, but not worsening is still good news. Over the summer, my mom has researched several alternative health care clinics. She is consulting a new doctor on Monday. His treatment plan offers a personally targeted protocol based on a sophisticated technology she has not had access to before. It also costs about a third less than most of the other clinics she's researched.
Throughout the last 9 months, she has worked hard to restore her health. She eats extremely healthy, takes immunity boosters, and uses a negative ionized infra-red heating pad (not a cheap expense btw), which has been shown to help decrease cancer cells. Cancer cells cannot tolerate this type of increase in temperature as normal cells can. This type of heat is being used to treat cancer in Japan.
I'm serious when I say she has not been sick at all within the last 9 months. No coughing, cold, or flu, NOTHING. In December 2014 she came down with a severe cold over Christmas. In Nov. 2015 she came down with severe pneumonia, which resulted in ultrasounds, biopsy and x-rays, which ultimately led to her lung cancer diagnosis. Since December 2015 though, she took immediate action and has since then been more healthy than I have seen her in years.
PLEASE continue to SHARE, PRAY and DONATE. The fight is not over yet. Though the cancer remains static, we need to ultimately eliminate it altogether. Thank you again!
I'll try to post more frequent updates. Until then
