Thank you for visiting and Welcome to our GoFundMe site, We are reaching out to you in hopes of gaining you as a supporter for The Surreptitious Sharks team on a footrace running across the state of Georgia for 260 miles. This year is the 10th Annual running of the "RAG" and is said to be the FINAL year. We want to go out with a big "splash."
*THIS FUND IS FOR THE TEAM EXPENSES FOR THE RACE. A SEPARATE FUNDRAISER WILL BE POSTED FOR THE HOUSE OF HEROES BENEFIT. THAT LINK WILL BE POSTED HERE AS SOON AS PROVIDED.*
The race is a benefit for House of Heroes which is a nonprofit organization serving our nation's military and public safety veterans (and their spouses) who are disabled, living on a fixed income, or facing other physical/financial challenges. Volunteers perform minor repairs and make improvements to the homes of veterans and their spouses—at no cost to the veteran—through the generosity of individuals, civic organizations, and corporations. The Event is properly named “Run for the Heroes” and will be held over Memorial day weekend. Our team, The Surreptitious Sharks, will have a Competitive Relay Team of 8 to run the 260 miles in the best total time not exceeding 40 hours.
This will be the Sharks third year running and we have a reputation to uphold. We put up a good time as well as won “Most Spirited.” We plan to better our placing this year with runners that can hold pace of 8:30/mi or better … but important to know that we will be running up to 8 legs over the course of the 40 hours in tough conditions (Hilly, Hot Days, Cold Nights, Potential Rain, Animals) for potentially 30+ miles. The legs range from 2.6 miles to 7.7 miles. Through this trip we will be all sharing a Rented RV and sharing limited storage space. We will plan as a team for run, shower, food, and sleep rotations to efficiently keep our team alert, hydrated and nutrionally race ready. As I mentioned before, We are a “Spirited” team and will be fun, loud, wearing costumes, cheering all teams, joking and using megaphones. Some occasionall healthy trash-talk has been given from time to time ;)
Cost… Yes all fun things do come with their costs. This is a benefit to support our military and public safety veteran. So, There is Entrance fees for the team ($800) and the costs associated with RV, Gas, Food, Water, Supplements and Team accessories(~$2200). It is these expenses that we would really appreciate any donation towards our team.
