Shannon's Bar Exam Fund
Hey guys! I would first like to thank each and every one of you for taking the time out of your busy day to view my gofundme page. Hopefully you can contribute to making my dream of becoming an attorney come true!
I have been extremely blessed to have reached the final stage in my long journey of becoming an attorney. In only a few months, I will proudly receive my Juris Doctor from Rutgers School of Law. Two months later, on July 25th, I am scheduled to sit for the New Jersey Bar, but there is only one problem; I cannot afford to pay the high cost of taking this exam. It currently costs $575 to submit a Bar application, and an additional $3595 to enroll in the Prep Course that is essential to passing the Bar. While some of my colleagues may be fortunate enough to pay without monetary support; I, on the other hand, am not. To make matters worse, graduate students are unable to receive financial assistance towards Bar Examination fees. So, I am seeking help from my friends and family.
It has always been my dream to become a lawyer; to educate those who are ignorant to the law and most importantly, to advocate and fight for those who are indigent and lack legal assistance. As a young, black, woman raised in an urban community, I am aware of its disparities. I understand the effect it has on education, criminal justice, and employment. Thus, my passion for law runs deeper than wearing expensive suits and signing retainer agreements. I plan to make a significant impact on my community and this world!
I am so close to reaching this goal, but the Bar is the only thing that stands in my way. I am asking that all of my friends and family contribute whatever they can for this step towards my lifelong dream. Any amount will help and it would mean the world to me! I thank you in advance and will be sure to pay it forward! I won't let you all down. Thank you and God bless!
