Shannon's Medical Fund

My daughter, Shannon who is 41 years old, has endured the unfortunate experience of recently being diagnosed with cancer.  This diagnosis was a fairly big surprise to her and the rest of our family, but it has presented Shannon with several significant obstacles in life that she is currently trying to overcome.

Shannon’s initial diagnosis came after several regular medication wellness visits’, several CT scans, and multiple consolations with various physicians between August and early October 2017.  As a result, the initial diagnosis was that she had endometrial adenocarcinoma grade stage 2 and that required her to undergo a hysterectomy.  During the surgical procedure, the doctors identified additional abnormalities and preformed and an additional biopsy.  The new test result showed that that Shannon also has ovarian carcinosarcoma and the classification was raised to endometrial adenocarcinoma grade stage 3.  This new diagnosis prompted her physicians to recommend an immediate and aggressive regiment of chemotherapy that was started at the end of October.

The chemotherapy treatments are scheduled every 3 weeks in Madison, WI at the UW Hospital.  Shannon has completed several treatments at this point and she seems to be responding well, but there is still concern that she might need to endure further radiation treatment at the conclusion of the chemotherapy regiment. She also has endured additional medication requirements, nutritional needs and care as a result of these aggressive treatments.

All of this has been an overwhelming and trying time for our family and we now find ourselves in a position of need.  Because of the treatment location, a 120-mile round trip, the increased medical co-pays for doctor visits, lab work, and medications we have found that Shannon is starting to be less financially capable of maintaining the financial responsibilities for her basic needs such as rent, groceries, and utility bills.  At this point, Shannon is in need of financial assistance to just maintain the escalating medical bills from her chemotherapy treatments, the increased travel costs to/from Madison several times a month, and necessary medications and equipment for her care during the therapy regiment.

After a deep soul search and exhausting all thinkable financial means we are now reaching out for support.  We have determined that she will need approximately $5000 to cover the already incurred and future medial bills, medications costs, nutritional supplements and travel costs to/from her chemo therapy treatments.  At this point, without the support from other’s, I am fearful that she will not be able to financially navigate the immediate and further mounting medical costs.

Any assistance at this time would be extremely welcomed and we would like to THANK YOU in advance for supporting Shannon during this trying time of her life.
