Shangrala Horse and Animal Rescue

$9,385 of $20,000 goal

My name is Lynn Robbins. I have Shangrala Horse and Animal Rescue. My family and I have rescued hundreds of animals over many years with our own private resources. We have also helped many children and young adults over the years. Riding, grooming, and just generally being around horses has been proven to be therapeutic for children and adults alike.

The price of hay and grain has more than tripled this year due to the drought. We have enough hay to last till the second week of January. We need help to buy hay and grain for the rescue and therapy horses and ponies. It's breaking our hearts because we will have to destroy these patient, loving, kind horses if we do not get some help to buy hay and grain. Our handicapped children and young adults will suffer greatly because they will be losing their best friends. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.

Our barn burnt down today with all of our hay and feed in it. Thank GOD we got our therapy horses Pearl and Hidalgo out but sadly we did not get the 3 goats out Jelly Bean, Matilda, and Mo and we lost our two cats Kit and Niki. It will be hard to replace the barn but we can never replace our babies. We are so thankful they saved the horses.

Hidalgo is getting his favorite wish... being brushed by a good friend. She makes him look so big! We want to thank everyone who has helped us. This is one of the things you help make possible and many more. Come visit us in the spring.

Because of all the people who are helping us, we are really looking forward to spring. We have lots of fun events to get ready for. WE still need your help. we are not completely out of the woods yet so keep posting and spreading the word. Pray for just the right amount of moisture to help grow the crops so life will easier for everyone. When hay prices go down we can breathe a little easier.

I want to assure everyone that the horses are healthy and well cared for. We have not had to euthanize anyone and we will not euthanize anyone because of all your kindness and generosity. Due to my spinal surgery and subsequent inability to go to work we had only 1 week of hay left. We usually pay $50 for a large bale of hay, now a large bale of hay is $175 and climbing. Due to the drought hay and grain prices have tripled. If you would like to further assist us in helping the animals please contact us at 515-285-0604. Thank you again so much for your kindness.

we have about two weeks of hay left and then all the horses will starve. Please help me. I had to have emergency surgery on my spinal cord and colum and have'nt been able to work to make money for hay. This is a crisis situation. Please just a small amount of help from you will help a lot. Please tell your friends. I am in a great amount of trouble and will have to destroy these beautiful horses if help does not come quickly.
