For those who do not know, Forte Animal Rescue is a volunteer and donation driven dog rescue based
Marina del Rey, Ca (www.farescue.org).
We give refuge to homeless dogs until they are placed in their permanent homes. We rely solely on donations, and, once . Once a dog is under our care, we never give up! This often means we incur hefty expenses for veterinary treatment, behavioral rehabilitation, and boarding for dogs who take more time and care to adopt out.
We recently rescued four dogs, including Shag, from a 77-year old man who had to be moved to a convalescent home. After losing the one human that took care of him his whole life, Shag has been trying to adjust to being in a new environment and with new people. As he slowly opens up, he has made all the volunteers fall in love with his gentle disposition!
A few days ago Shag fell suddenly ill, suffering several seizures. He's still in the hospital and recovering from this severe attack on his body. He is very tired, he
cannot stand on his feet very long and he has partially los his eyesight. The doctors are trying to find out the cause of his seizures. Every time I visit him in the hospital, he breaks my heart. He doesn’t know what is going on and we can only comfort him with our presence. We are now making sure his medication is balanced and that he is strong enough to go home.
We are struggling to cover his medical costs, which are massive. They include intensive care, the medication, the specialist who looks after him. I truly hope you can help Shag and Forte Animal Rescue with any donation you can give. If you even just have $5-10 to spare, Shag would be forever in your debt.
Shag is also facing another problem: he cannot be released unless there is a foster home! If you or anyone you know can give him a home (even just for the holidays!) while we make sure that his meds are balanced and he can go back to cagefree boarding, it would be amazing.
