The Academy of Country Music released the nominees for the ACM Industry Awards, and Springfield's own historic Gillioz Theatre has been named among the illustrious field.
The field boasts some of the most famous venues in the United States, including the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee - ACL Live in Austin, Texas - Hoyt Sherman Theatre in Des Moines, Iowa - and the Playstation Theatre in New York, New York.
"To be in the company of these nominees is a genuine honor. This is affirmation that we are making progress in developing the Springfield market in the national eye. Our event calendar is a clear indication as we see more top names playing the theatre. This prestigious nomination reinforces our efforts. We are incredibly grateful." said Gillioz Executive Director Geoff Steele.
The nomination process comes through a panel of industry professionals. Once the nominations are announced, a ballot goes out to Academy members who choose the winner. The Gillioz nomination is in the category listed as Best Venue - Small. This is a venue that seats less than 4000. The Gillioz seats 1015.
The ACM Industry Awards ceremony will take place August 23 in Nashville, Tennessee at the Ryman Auditorium.
The Gillioz is intent on taking the staff of six to the event, and has created this GoFundMe campaign to solicit support for the undertaking. "This nomination is significant for our community. It is often overlooked, but the Gillioz is a 501c-3 non-profit, and we simply don't have it in the budget to make a trip like this. I do believe it is important that we represent at the awards, and frankly, I want the staff to experience the benefits of their hard work. I am confident the community will see the merit in getting Springfield's independent theatre to the Academy activities." said Steele.
