As most of you know, we lost Melanie Sunday, Feb 9th at 11:12 pm after her courageous fight against Glioblastoma brain cancer. Melanie endured 2 brain surgeries to remove tumors, not to mention 3 other surgeries to her head due to infection. I have never met someone so strong and with such a great outlook on life, and a belief in God. She rarely complained, and always gave to others even though she was deathly ill. I would like to thank everyone who helped our family during these extremely difficult past 8 months. The love & much needed support will never be forgotten.
For those who would like to pay your respects and say goodbye, we will be holding a memorial for Melanie on Sunday, Feb 22nd, at 1pm. It will be at The Community Chapel Church- 42250 Ames Creek Rd. in Sweet Home. Here is a FB link with all the info.

On June 7th my fraternal twin sister, Melanie, went to the ER after suffering 9 days with a massive migraine. She was immediately admitted to OHSU to remove a lime sized tumor from her brain. She patiently waited over 2 weeks for the results of that tumor. On June 25th she was officially diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), which is the most common and most aggressive malignant primary brain tumor in humans. She has been given 5-15 months to live. My sister is only 41, a wife, and mother of 3 children, two of which are 11 and 4 and still at home which is in Sweet Home, Oregon. After radiation & chemo treatment, our family would like to send her to an Alternative Cancer Treatment Hospital that treats her kind of cancer, and that is very expensive. Those who know me know I am humble & a hard worker, but this goes beyond my means.
In addition to this, Melanie and her husband are hard working small business owners who, like many self-employed Americans, DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE. Her brain surgery, and now her radiation AND chemo treatment, as well as the countless other expenses that come along with something like this has already been a financial tsunami for their family. We want to help Melanie do ALL she can to be here for her family and see her children grow up, get married and live happy healthy lives. Will you join us? If we all can just give $5, we could raise the money in no time :) I've witnessed so much support & love for her already, but more could never hurt, right? :)
