SCHOOL OF JIRI HARCUBA
by Pavlina Cambalova
My sincere thanks to everyone who has reached out and encouraged me to assume the leadership of the School of Dominik Beimann. The great glass engraver Jiri Harcuba founded the school in 2001. Sadly, Jiri passed away on July 26th, 2013. Like Jiri I am passionately committed to promoting interest in engraved glass. So, it is my pleasure to announce that the school will continue, but with one significant change. In memory of its founder it is being renamed The School of Jiri Harcuba.
Our first workshop will be held in September 22- 24, 2014. It will take place at the newly opened Center of Glass Art in Sazava following the Symposium of Engraved Glass traditionally held in Kamenicky Senov (program of the Symposium: http://engravedglass.cz/sym06.html )
The program of The School of Jiri Harcuba starts by moving participants of the International Engraving Symposium in Kamenicky Senov by buses to Sázava, where it will be possible to participate in the guided tour in The Center of Glass Art and The Exhibition of IGS. There will be an opening of The Exhibition of Jiri Harcuba and then a lecture about his work. Jiri Harcuba's School itself starts on Monday morning. The participants will be able to participate in it the whole 3 days, only a selected day, or just to come and create a print or engraved slide.
To make The School of JiriHarcuba available, we set a very low basic price. However, the costs will be higher and, in addition, we intend to create a printed catalog on the occasion of the first-year of the School, we gratefully appreciate any voluntary contributions.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
The TGK company and Zdena Harcubova also supported us by giving some glass for the School of Jiri Harcuba´s use. Amazing!
We still need some more money to be able to print a nice catalogue after finishing the School... I believe there are still some people who want to help us.
THANK YOU for your donations and for sharing!
