Saving our Little Warrior- Skyler

Thanks for taking the time to read Skyler’s heartfelt story. I'm reaching out to all of you on behalf of my daughter’s  Teacher and a very good friend of mine, Elizar Rodrigues, one of the most humble human beings I’ve ever met in my life.

 Skyler is the little Prince in the lives of Elizar, Shirley & their 8 yr old son, Evan. He is only 5 months old and is a true Warrior. This cute little Prince has been fighting a strange Viral & bacterial infection and has been admitted in ICU at Advocate Lutheran Children's Hospital, Chicago for the past 7 days.

 Skyler was born in Dec 2017 and came to this country in March 2018, when he was only 3 months old.  Last week he somehow caught this strange viral & bacterial infection and after being admitted in ICU for a week his current status is stable but the doctors say that he has a lung that is punctured due to the infection. He has shown signs of improvement since last night but is under constant monitoring as we speak. Doctors are estimating to keep him in ICU for at least another week.

They say that the worst thing in life, for a parent, is to see their child suffering. Unfortunately Skyler’s parents are going through that stage right now. The current insurance coverage that Skyler's parents have is NOT ADEQUATE to help cover the medical costs. As you can imagine, the medical costs for critical care are exorbitantly high,  and in Skyler's case even more higher due to his age & medical condition. Skyler’s parents are currently looking at an approx. bill of $117k as of today and its expected to go upto $180k based on the estimates of Skyler staying in ICU for another 7 days. They are struggling with the medical costs incurred due to this situation. They have exhausted all options to see if the bills could be reduced or waived off. What could be a better gift to a mother around mother’s day than helping her unite with her cute little 5 month baby.
