Please help us save this sweet doodle puppy who was hit by a car and left for dead on the side of the highway. I was driving down the US 78 Stone Mountain freeway when out of the corner of my eye I see a small furry blonde dog laying listless on the side of the road unable to move. I knew that something was seriously wrong so I immediately pulled over. He was alive, in severe pain, and it was clear his back, pelvis, and legs were badly injured as he could not stand or walk; he didn't cry or make a sound.

Another driver pulled over and called 911. Police arrived shortly. I begged the officer not to call animal control as I knew they would euthanize him as he was so badly broken.  I said I would take full responsibility for the dog and ensure it gets good care.  She agreed to let me help him.  A quilt was pulled out of the back of her car and we wrapped the dog. The police gave me her leather gloves in case I got bit trying to pick him up (the dog was in shock and didn't even flinch when we lifted him) and we scooped him up and placed him in the back of my car. I swear this sweet little puppy knew he was being rescued and believe he knew in that moment everything would be alright.  I proceeded to rush him straight to the Village Vets Animal Hospital in Decatur, GA.

He wasn't chipped or tagged so we've named him Mutt Muffin. We are not sure of the breed but the vet is certain he's an "oodle" puppy of some kind - either a schnoodle, labradoodle, or golden doodle. He's absolutely adorable.

He's currently at an animal hospital where they are keeping him sedated on pain meds, antibiotics and fluids. His x-rays show a broken femur, fractured pelvis, fractured tibia, fractured back,  and fractured femoral head. He can't walk but is alive and stable at the vet. The vet said that his broken parts need to be put back together by a surgeon but that he will walk again. The downside is it will cost over $10,000.

With your help he will live and go on to have a good life. PLEASE donate ANY amount you can give. He's adorable and definitely worth saving and I need your help! $50, $100 or whatever you can give! Thank you so much for your support and generous donation!

Hi Mutt Muffin fans! This is my final gofundme update on our little miracle rescue pup. We have two more rehab sessions and then we are off medical hold! We visited the surgeon last week for his final complete set of X-rays and he said his broken bones were healed up. All the plates, pins and screws will remain inside him unless over time they begin to bother him. Two weeks ago we took him to the beach and gave him a minute or two to run free as his rehab person she didn't want him running quite yet. He was so happy as you can see in the picture below. We believe it was his first time at the ocean. I've created a Facebook page for him so if you would like to continue to follow his story, please search for Mutt Muffin on Facebook and "like" his page. We are filled with deep gratitude to all of you who helped save Mutt Muffin, and can't thank you enough for your generosity and love.

Hi everybody, with a little digging I was able to track down the police offer who helped me save Mutt Muffin that cold day in January. I surprised her by showing up at the police precinct with him and she was delighted to see how well he's doing. She had no idea what happened him to after putting him in my car and was truly amazed at his recovery. It turns out she has a several rescue dogs herself. She's definitely an angel among us! Mutt Muffin is continuing with his pool rehab and yesterday graduated to a new exercise, cavaletti rails. We get to practice these daily for a while, and then 2-3x/week for the rest of his life to aid in his leg/hip movement. He's the happiest little pup and Lily, my other dog, is so happy to have a new pack member, Rest assured I'm spoiling Mutt Muffin rotten!! Thank you all for your love and support!!!

Another Mutt Muffin update for all his fans and supporters! This week was a BIG milestone! It marked 4 weeks post surgery and he had another set of X-rays run at GVS so Dr. Cross could review his progress. I posted his before and after X-rays so you can see just how badly this little guy was broken. If you look closely you can see the broken femur, pelvis, spine and femoral head. Our little Mutt Muffin is held together with plenty of plates, pins, screws and wire in the post surgery X-ray. I was a bit nervous for this appointment as he jumped out of his initial love nest (a baby play pen) in the first week post surgery and feared he may have caused further injury. Turns out he didn't do any damage, and in fact he is healing remarkably well. His completely broken left femur is rapidly growing new bone along with his spinal fracture. The surgeon said that he was doing GREAT and that Mutt Muffin made him look good! We had an initial rehab consult at Atlanta Animal Rehab and Fitness in Roswell and the rehab tech was blown away at the amount of fractures, repairs, and how well he's doing. She said she has several patients whom after a few weeks are still unable to walk or even stand and they had one simple fracture. Youth was most definitely on his side given the nature and severity of his injuries. The surgeons skills at GVS were also amazing. I still contend he is a MIRACLE pup and we are watching his recovery miracles happen before our eyes. Thank you all for loving, supporting, praying, caring and sharing with us along Mutt Muffin's journey back to good health.

Mutt Muffin is getting better every day! This week I took him for his basic vetting appointment and he did great. He's now immunized, rabified, microchipped and officially spoiled. We have left the yard a few times to walk down the street but until his rehab consult next week I'm not pushing him too hard. I walk him on a leash at all times in the yard since I live very close to LaVista Rd., plus we have lots of birds, squirrels and bunnies catching his eye. I've also started training him. He's super easy and attentive. It's amazing to think he has a plate holding his spine together, a screw holding his pelvis together, another large plate and screws holding his femur, and pins in holding his femoral head and tuba together. He's really a "Frankenpup"! Thank you all for helping us to pull off this miracle to save his life! It was a lot of money to raise for surgery, vetting and rehab and we could not have done it without your help. Thank you all for your cares, shares and donations!!! He is one very happy and lucky little guy today!

Lori, Thank you so very much for all you are doing for this little angel. I wish I could give more but we need to put up a page ourselves. One of our rescued ferals has deformed eyes from her mother's clamydia. The rest of Buffy's colony is gone, dead and we have her little sister who is healthy. Buffy needs eye surgery and we will make a page today. Mutt Muffin inspired me!! I know Mutt Muffin is going to have such a wonderful life. Soon, he will forget all this and be a very spoiled dog.
