Sam's dream school

Hello,

My name is Sam and many of you might know me as being your guide during your trip to Siem Reap and Angkor Wat.

This Facebook page was born from the wonderful will of many of you to lend a helping hand to the kids in my community and by making their lives more joyful and colorful.

In a few words about myself,

I was born in 1986 after Khmer Rouge in a warm family with 12 siblings for which 7 we lost during the unsettled times that Cambodian people passed thru. My dad unfortunately died when I was very young and only my mom struggled to take care of us. As times were harsh after the Khmer Rouge and there were not many opportunities for kids to go to school, I had to walk everyday 15km to the nearest village were I could get some education. I always loved to learn new things and had the strong will to finish school although many other kids gave up their education to work on their families farms. Despite all the difficulties that we as a family had to pass thru, I thrived and had the determination to continue my studies and be able to create a better life for my family. Therefore, after graduating from high school I enrolled into university and 4 years long I was working hard during the day and studying during the night.

2015 I married the most beautiful girl and now we have a 11 months old daughter which brings us a lot of joy.

My dream is to give back to children and make their school experience and lives better. This is also why I created this school project called ‘Sam’s dream school’, thru which I want to bring joy to as many kids as possible in Siem Reaps countryside. Many families do not afford to buy clothes, school supplies or even pay for transportation for kids to go to school, and this is a reason why many are droping out of school. Looking back at my situation I strongly believe that education can make lives better and happier.

Saying this, I need financial assistance for:

·      3 schools: Kbal Chin Primary School, Bong Kung Primary and Kampong Pluk Primary School

·      761 Students

·      Ages 5 to 12 years old

For:

1.     Free English and Computers Classes (Fees for English teachers and computers)

2.     School Supplies (pens, books, rulers, backpacks)

3.     Student uniforms + sports clothes

4.     Water pump well for schools and surrounding communities

5.     Water filters for more hygienic water in schools

6.     School toilets

I am very thankful for any helping hand, being financial or physical assistance in making these children lives better.

Yours,
Sam
