Sabrina Vuscan Survivor Fund

My name is Sabrina Vuscan and I survived the PSU hit and run  on May 25th.  I’ve experienced my darkest days from this senseless act of violence, however I have also have seen true heroism and support from my community.

Walking to the gym with my best friend that Friday morning, I heard a loud engine behind me only to turn around seconds before the impact.  I remember hitting the ground and trying to get up, which I could not and I could only wonder what had happened to my best friend.   Several PSU Students rushed to my aid.  Ashley Campbell was first at my side, lying beside me, assuring me I would be alright. Marcos Ordaz supplied a first aid kit while Sarah Quick helped monitor my condition until the paramedics arrived. Todd Bach helped secure me to the gurney. Then it went dark.

I have vague recollections of answering medical questions about sensations while my clothes were being cut off and my injuries assessed.  My face was covered in blood, my nose and arm broken, my back had a wide gash and tire marks with micro fractures, my abdomen bruised and covered in tire marks, and my liver lacerated. I learned my best friend was in the same hospital, headed to surgery after having been hit by the same SUV I was dragged under. I remember repeatedly asking if I was dreaming and when I was going to wake up as I went in and out of consciousness.

To all those involved in my aid and care from the May 25th incident, I endearingly send you my heartfelt thanks and appreciation.  I may never know who you are, but I remain indebted to you for your help.  To my best and new friend victimized that day, I send you my love and prayers for a speedy recovery.  To the Portland Police, thank you for your swift apprehension of the person responsible for this incident. As I continue to heal, I vow to turn this random act of violence into an act of hope and healing for other children.

My goal is to raise $10,000 to donate to children who have experienced crisis or domestic violence around the world.  Through this gesture I can pay-it-forward to turn this situation into a blessing to be shared.

Thank you for helping me exemplify how above all; humanity will prevail, hope will prevail, and love will prevail.
