The Students from South Shore Votech BPA have worked very hard and have earned the opportunity to compete in the National Leadership Conference in Florida. SSVT is proud to be represented by one outgoing state representative and one incoming state representative. These students were elected by their peers at the state conference in March. Each student participated in a competion to earn their place at nationals. The students that make up the team are seniors and juniors. This is a great achievement for each of them.
Business Professionals of America is the premier CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields. BPA has 45,000 members in over 1,800 chapters in 25 states and Puerto Rico. BPA is a co-curricular organization that supports business and information technology educators by offering co-curricular exercises based on national standards.
As a co-curricular activity, Business Professionals of America has the ability to enhance student participation in professional, civic, service and social endeavors. Business Professionals of America members participate in these activities to accomplish its goals of self-improvement, leadership development, professionalism, community service, career development, public relations, student cooperation and safety and health
In March, our students attended the State Leadership Conference excelled beyond our wildest dreams by placing first place in three events and qualifying nine students for the BPA National Leadership Conference. This conference is where are students will compete against other students from across the country. The conference is taking place in Orlando, Florida on May 10th through the 14th.
Our current challenge is funding this opportunity for our students. We do not have an accurate amount of money that the school will provide. The bottom line is we need to raise the majority of the money. The estimated cost for five students and two chaperons is approximately $6400 which includes registration fees, hotel and air fare. The air fare could increase based on when we purchase it. Any other additional costs including food is not included.
We are reaching out to the SSVT community, friends and family to help fund the trip for our students. Any amount is greatly apprciated.
