Hi, I'm Scott a photojournalist and visual storyteller based in England, you might know me better as SRPix on Twitter or Periscope. I would like to raise some funds so I can continue to share the stories I find in the UK.
My regular followers will know that I'm a big fan of Periscope, Photography and Storytelling. I believe the live broadcasting app (Periscope) is a big game changer and now with its integration with Apple TV, there are exciting times ahead. Since I started using the app I have tried to bring the stories I cover as a photographer to my followers. I was the first to scope from a Circus and even devised a way to broadcast the view from the top of my camera whilst taking photos! I have interviewed street and circus performers, covered traditional bonfire celebrations and shared photo walks along the beach and through the countryside. This really is just the tip of the iceberg as I have so much more I'd like to share. I have a notebook full of ideas, places I would like to visit, and people I'd love to interview.
So this is where you come in ;-)
I have the skills (read my bio ) and the ability to tell the story. So I'm looking to raise some money to help with the costs involved to travel, create and share these stories.
I haven't set up the campaign with one particular story or road trip in mind because there are stories everywhere, who knows where I'll end up. If I raise £5 that's great as I'll have enough money for a cheap day return train ticket into London and we can go exploring. If I raise more, that will awesome as I can travel further and tell more stories.
Here's just a very small selection of stories I would love to cover and share.
The Old Solider - I had the pleasure to meet a WW2 veteran who is over 90 and spent several years as a Japanese prisoner of war. His story is amazing and so inspiring I believe it needs to be told.
The Real London - I would like to look past all the tourist attractions and find the real people and document the city's traditions. This city is so much more than Buckingham Palace or Big Ben!
The Circus Performer - This year I met a 3rd generation Circus performer. He has traveled the world and during his career became the world's greatest trapeze artist! The circus has now left town but before leaving we agreed to meet up again so I could document his life.
The Oyster Fisherman - I would love to spend a few days with an 8th generation oyster fisherman. Harvesting the oysters off the English coast in a traditional way the opportunity to document this and share his story would be great.
Exploring England - Although I live on an island you only need to travel a couple of hours to experience different regional traditions unique to each area. From Dorset to Wales I want to visit the cities and villages, interviewing the people and finding stories as I travel around.
I would really appreciate any donation you can afford as even the price of a coffee will allow me to buy some fuel. During my travels, I'll be broadcasting live on Periscope, showing you the places I find and interviewing the people I photograph. If I don't have a phone signal or any WiFi available (which is unlikely) I'll film it on my mobile or GoPro and give everyone a heads up before hand.
I'll be taking photographs, recording audio, filming video and doing whatever it takes to tell the story the best way I know. You will be joining me on a photo assignment and I'll share the finished project online via my blog. I guess you can think of it as being a member of a very exclusive club of like-minded people who are interested in the world and want to find out more about the people that live in it. Your funding will allow these stories to be documented and told.
