SMM 2017 Student Travel Grants

On October 22, 2017, researchers and students from around the world will gather in Halifax, Nova Scotia for the Society for Marine Mammalogy’s 22nd Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals: “2017: A Marine Mammal Odyssey, Eh!”
Over the course of the following week, hundreds of students studying marine mammalogy will have invaluable opportunities to learn from and network with their peers and other researchers. More than 300 student abstracts have been accepted for oral, poster, speedtalk, and video presentations.
However, the costs associated with conference transportation and accommodation are significant, especially on a student budget. For that reason, conference organizers, Tonya and Hilary, as well as members of the conference organizing committee and the student affairs committee, will collectively run over 50 kilometers in the pirate-themed Maritime Race on September 16, 2017. We need you to sponsor our runners as they work to raise funds that will go directly towards creating small grants in aid of travel for students presenting at the upcoming conference! 100% of the proceeds raised will go towards student travel grants.
Please help support the development of these emerging marine researchers and promote the latest research in marine mammal science by helping the Society's student affairs committee provide much needed travel assistance.
