SAVE 32 ACRES OF HISTORIC FARMLAND

$4,975 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 85 people in 14 months
OCEAN TOWNSHIP NEW JERSEY IS ABOUT TO APPROVE A HIGH DENSITY COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT, WHICH WILL DESTROY 32 ACRES OF HISTORIC AMERICAN INDIAN FARMLAND.

THE TOWN RESIDENTS WOULD LIKE THE TOWNSHIP TO UTILIZE OUR OPEN SPACE TAX MONEY TO BUY IT.

WE NEED FUNDING FOR LEGAL REPRESENTATION, TO SAVE THE LAND, THE TREES, THE WILDLIFE THAT WILL BE  DISPLACED.

WE NEED TO MOVE QUICKLY. THE TOWNSHIP IS READY TO PUSH THIS THROUGH. THE DEVELOPERS NEEDED LAND USE ZONING CHANGES TO ACCOMMIDATE A TOXIC GAS STATION IN WETLANDS TERRITORY.

WE THE PEOPLE, NEED TO RAISE FUNDING TO RETAIN LEGAL REPRESENTATION,  SO THE TAX PAYING RESIDENTS, WHO VOTED 2 TO 1 FOR AN OPEN SPACE TAX, CAN HAVE THEIR VOICES HEARD.

OUR COMMUNITY HAS LESS THAN 8% MATURE TREE CANOPY LEFT. 75% OF THE TOWNSHIP HAS BEEN DEVELOPED WHICH NOW CLASSIFIES OCEAN TOWNSHIP AS AN URBAN COMMUNITY.

FOR GENERATIONS TO COME, WE NEED TO SAVE WHAT LITTLE FOREST WE HAVE IN NEW JERSEY AND THE HISTORIC HERITAGE OF THE AMERICAN INDIAN FARMLAND.

OUR HEALTH IS AT GREAT RISK,  AS WELL AS THE WATER THAT FLOWS INTO THE ATLANTIC OCEAN DUE TO 32 ACRES OF OXYGEN PRODUCING / CARBON FILTERING TREES BEING CLEAR CUT FOR AN IMPERVIOUS GROUND COVER PARKING LOT, TO SERVICE  A MEGA SIZE GAS STATION, FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS, EXTENDED STAY HOTEL & 68 TOWNHOUSES THAT WILL BE BUILT IN WETLANDS TERRITORY, WHICH WILL LEAD TO FLOODING, TOXIC RUNOFF INTO POPLAR BROOK WITH EMPTIES INTO THE ATLANTIC.

WE  ARE MOST GRATEFUL FOR ANY LEVEL OF SUPPORT YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE TO HELP OUR COMMUNITY OF CONCERNED CITIZENS AFFORD OUR OWN LEGAL REPRESENTATION,  TO HELP SAVE 32 ACRES OF MATURE WOODLAND,  THAT IS GREATLY NEEDED FOR THE BALANCE OF OUR ECO SYSTEM IN OCEAN TOWNSHIP NEW JERSEY.

We need to hire professional experts of our own, to represent WE THE PEOPLE, who would like to keep Ocean Township GREEN. Ocean Township's local government is not providing experts to represent the tax paying residents concerns on the environmental impact this, "high density", commercial development will have on our community. The traffic, light, water and sound, pollution, the loss of vegetation, wildlife, and mature tree canopy, which shades, cools and provides oxygen. This time,we are on our own, and we need to stand together to be heard. We need to hire experts to speak on our behalf, to be effective in protecting our god given rights to a healthy environment.

JUNE 24TH, SAVE 32 ACRES FUNDRAISER JOE PALAIA PARK 1pm-6pm

OCEAN TOWNSHIP NJ'S DEAL RD & RT. 35 PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT IS NOT A DONE DEAL! SAVE32ACRES.ORG IS RAISING AWARENESS ON WHAT CAN BE DONE TO PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT FROM IRRESPONSIBLE DEVELOPMENT

SAVE 32 ACRES.ORG aims to raise awareness, within Monmouth County, and Nationally that recent zoning changes in Ocean Township NJ were necessary to accommodate a proposed developer's plans to clear cut 32 MORE acres of Monmouth County's Historic, Native American Woodland, which is rich in Wetlands soil and completely undeveloped at this time. Zoning changes were pushed through, claiming they were consistent with the Townships master plan. These aggressive zoning changes have to STOP.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

WE THE PEOPLE MUST STAND UNITED, to push back against the townships decision to slaughter what is left of our historic woodland, open space, habitat for wildlife, and wetlands.

TO ALL CITIZENS WHO SUPPORT SAVING 32 ACRES
OF OPEN SPACE, AND HISTORIC NATIVE AMERICAN FARMLAND, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU ATTEND ALL TOWN COUNCIL MEETINGS, WHICH ARE SCHEDULED TWICE MONTHLY, TO ASK IMPORTANT QUESTIONS.

UNDERSTAND THAT THE OCEAN TOWN CENTER DEVELOPMENT, IS NOT A DONE DEAL!!! STAY ON TOP OF THE PLANNING BOARD SCHEDULE AND BE PRESENT TO VOICE YOUR CONCERNS.

B R E A K I N G N E W S
NOTE IMPORTANT PIE CHART FROM RUTGERS UNIVERSITY'S ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY, ON OCEAN TOWNSHIP, FROM OCTOBER 2017

This study was done before the clear cutting on West Park and Hope Road

75% URBAN
7.9% FOREST
15% Wetlands
In November 2017, Ocean Township residents agreed and voted two to one to an additional tax to protect open space.

The wetlands & mature tree canopy, protect our neighborhoods from flooding.

The WETLANDS, are an intricate part of Ocean Township's natural watershed system.

Rain storms will spill TOXIC CHEMICAL WASTE, from the proposed GAS STATION'S impervious ground cover, aka blacktop parking lot, into the surrounding soil, in this case surrounding wetlands, which drain into Poplar Brook, which runs through our recreational parks and neighborhood yards, into the Atlantic Ocean, 2 miles from the toxic source.

RESIDENTS MUST COME TOGETHER TO RAISE AWARENESS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF RESPONSIBLE DEVELOPMENT,

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT ALL WHO OPPOSE THE SLAUGHTER OF WHAT LIMITED OPEN SPACE IS LEFT IN OCEAN TOWNSHIP, SHOW A UNITED FRONT AT THE UPCOMING PLANNING BOARD MEETING.

We need clean Oceans where our children swim, and non toxic water streams running through the parks, where our children play.

SAVE 32 ACRES INVITES YOU TO JOIN US SUNDAY, JUNE 24th, FROM 1:00pm - 6:00pm FOR AN IMPORTANT FUNDRAISER
PLEASE. JOIN US 1:PM - 6:PM

AT THE BANDSHELL LOCATED IN JOE PALAIA PARK, ON JUNE 24TH IN OCEAN TOWNSHIP NJ. THERE WILL BE MUSIC AND SPEAKERS TO SHARE OUR MISSION AND IMPORTANT FACTS. A PIECE OF OUR TOWNSHIPS HISTORY WILL BE DISCUSSED, WHICH ALLOWED FOR THIS VALUABLE , YET FRAGIL WETLAND PROPERTY TO RECEIVE THE COMMERCIAL OVERLAY ZONE. THIS PARTICULAR COMMERCIAL OVERLAY ZONE, PERMITS THIS LAND TO BE DEVELOPED WAY BEYOND WHAT IS RECOMMENDED IN THE TOWNSHIPS MASTER PLAN.

WE THE PEOPLE NEED TO RAISE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF MONEY TO HIRE AN ATTORNEY AND PLANNER TO REPRESENT OCEAN TOWNSHIPS TAX PAYING RESIDENTS, WHO VALUE OPEN SPACE AND WANT TO STOP THIS DEVELOPMENT FROM MOVING FORWARD.

THE PRESS WILL NOTICE, AS WELL AS OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS, THAT YOU CARE.

IMPORTANT NEXT STEPS
The developer's plans must be presented to the planning board and must receive approval from the DEP/ Department of Environmental Protection.

Testimony from the developers appointed Traffic experts, Environmental experts, Wetlands, etc will be present, to support the developer's ideas. The developer's plans must be formally evaluated. If the developer's plans are not contested, there is a very good chance they will be rubber stamped through.

WE THE PEOPLE , who are concerned about our shrinking mature tree canopy, who respect natures eco system, who care about the environmental risks and suspected Cancer Cluster, aim to show up at the scheduled planning board meetings with experts of our own. They cost money, which they deserve, however only developers with deep pockets can pay them.

So, we the people have to be creative in how we raise these extra household expenses. Music is a good place to start. In the meantime, you can visit Save32Acres of Historic Farmland @ GOFUNDME.COM

Every dollar helps, & thanks to all who have already generously contributed to our cause. These contributions went toward our fee to pay a planner, who represents the people. Thank you for helping us get started.
