SAVE 32 ACRES OF HISTORIC FARMLAND

$5,895 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 97 people in 16 months
OCEAN TOWNSHIP NEW JERSEY IS ABOUT TO APPROVE A HIGH DENSITY COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT, WHICH WILL DESTROY 32 ACRES OF HISTORIC NATIVE AMERICAN FARMLAND, WHICH WAS FOUND ELIGIBLE FOR LISTING IN OUR NATIONAL REGISTRY OF HISTORIC PLACES.

THE TOWN RESIDENTS WOULD LIKE THE TOWNSHIP TO UTILIZE OUR OPEN SPACE TAX MONEY AS WELL AS FUNDING OFFERER BY MONMOUTH CONSERVATION FOUNDATION, AS WELL AS OTHERS TO BUY IT.

WE NEED FUNDING FOR LEGAL REPRESENTATION, TO SAVE THE LAND, THE TREES, THE WILDLIFE THAT WILL BE  DISPLACED.

WE NEED TO MOVE QUICKLY. THE TOWNSHIP IS READY TO PUSH THE DEVELOPERS PLANS THROUGH. THE DEVELOPERS NEEDED LAND USE ZONING CHANGES TO ACCOMMODATE A TOXIC GAS STATION IN WETLANDS TERRITORY.

WE THE PEOPLE, NEED TO RAISE FUNDING TO RETAIN LEGAL REPRESENTATION,  SO THE TAX PAYING RESIDENTS, WHO VOTED 2 TO 1 FOR AN OPEN SPACE TAX, CAN HAVE THEIR VOICES HEARD.

OUR COMMUNITY HAS LESS THAN 8% MATURE TREE CANOPY LEFT. 75% OF THE TOWNSHIP HAS BEEN DEVELOPED WHICH NOW CLASSIFIES OCEAN TOWNSHIP AS AN URBAN COMMUNITY.

FOR GENERATIONS TO COME, WE NEED TO SAVE WHAT FOREST WE HAVE LEFT IN NEW JERSEY AND THE HISTORIC HERITAGE OF THE AMERICAN INDIAN FARMLAND.

OUR HEALTH IS AT GREAT RISK,  AS WELL AS THE WATER THAT FLOWS INTO THE ATLANTIC OCEAN DUE TO 32 ACRES OF OXYGEN PRODUCING / CARBON FILTERING TREES BEING CLEAR CUT FOR AN IMPERVIOUS GROUND COVER PARKING LOT, TO SERVICE  A MEGA SIZE GAS STATION, FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS, EXTENDED STAY HOTEL & 68 TOWNHOUSES THAT WILL BE BUILT IN WETLANDS TERRITORY, WHICH WILL LEAD TO FLOODING, TOXIC RUNOFF INTO POPLAR BROOK WITH EMPTIES INTO THE ATLANTIC.

WE  ARE MOST GRATEFUL FOR ANY LEVEL OF SUPPORT YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE TO HELP OUR COMMUNITY OF CONCERNED CITIZENS AFFORD OUR OWN LEGAL REPRESENTATION,  TO HELP SAVE 32 ACRES OF MATURE WOODLAND,  THAT IS GREATLY NEEDED FOR THE BALANCE OF OUR ECO SYSTEM IN OCEAN TOWNSHIP NEW JERSEY.

We need to hire professional experts of our own, to represent WE THE PEOPLE, who would like to keep Ocean Township GREEN. Ocean Township's local government is not providing experts to represent the tax paying residents concerns on the environmental impact this, "high density", commercial development will have on our community. The traffic, light, water and sound, pollution, the loss of vegetation, wildlife, and mature tree canopy, which shades, cools and provides oxygen. This time,we are on our own, and we need to stand together to be heard. We need to hire experts to speak on our behalf, to be effective in protecting our god given rights to a healthy environment.
