100 Mile Alaskan Run for Kids!

Four years ago, in a moments decision, I stepped onto a treadmill for the first time. I didn't love the act of running but decided, eh, I'd give it a chance for a week. Little did I expect five months shortly thereafter I'd complete my first marathon. Then last January, with your help, I set out for a run along the California beach and ended in Arizona ten days later, a giant leap into the Ultra Running community.
Now with many stories, perils and triumphs weathered into countless pairs of shoes, I take on my next challenge: a 100 Mile run through Alaska the second week of Febuaury 2016 while raising funds to again fight childhood inactivity. The race: The Susitna 100. The charity: the 100 Mile Club, encouraging students to run or walk 100 miles per school year.
Its often said that running is an individual sport, but in reality friends, family and the people along any day's running route all push a runner along. As I've pushed myself further I've been trusted with countless stories of friends and strangers overcoming odds, of setting goals and smashing them, of facing fears, diving into the unthinkable and achieving greatness. Its a circle of inspiration. Each story keeps me going; pushing me along.
And this is what my work with the 100 Mile Club is all about; to remind today's youth that there is a beautiful world out there, the outdoors, the wild and its best explored on foot. To challenge kids to put their screens down and move. To have set goals, seek more, achieve greatness... and have fun doing it!

Every step I take while out crossing Alaska's frigid landscape of frozen rivers, swamps and twisting wilderness trails I'll feel your support and picture those smiling faces of thousands of students taking the 100 Mile pledge.
